Become a MemberWe recently began a series of potted paper plants, and I must say that I love each and every one of them. Each one has its own uniquely adorable quality! Our paper ferns and snake plant were both beautifully realistic, while the whimsical house plant came straight from the imagination of our designer Jessica. Now Jessica has done it again with these perfect crepe paper cactus plants!
This crepe paper cactus project is a fantastic way to add some pops of vibrant color around the house or office. To make these cute cacti, you will need foam eggs, crepe paper, toothpicks, and sewing pins. Members can download the full materials list and instructions below! Begin by preparing your pots with fake moss and rocks, which you can find at any local craft store. We also painted our pots with acrylic paint in bold colors to match the colorful look of our cacti. Next, prepare your crepe paper. We used two shades of green to add some variation in our crepe paper cactus plants, and then chose a yellow and red for the flowers coming out of the top. Print the template below as a guide for cutting your crepe petals. Cover your foam eggs using your green crepe and some hot glue. Then, stick your toothpicks into your foam to resemble the cactus spikes. You can paint your toothpicks green before or after you stick them into the foam. We painted ours after, but it’s all up to you! Glue your flowers to the tops of the cacti, then stick colorful sewing pins through the centers of the flowers for some extra flair. Find colorful sewing pins at your local fabric or craft store, or paint the pin heads yourself with acrylic paint. Attach your cacti to the moss using a toothpick, and your crepe paper cactus plants are ready for displaying! Follow our easy step-by-step photo tutorial below to help you put these cuties together.
These little cactus plants would be great for office desk accents, housewarming gifts, or to incorporate into your summer party decor!
