VIDEO: Crepe Paper Blooming Roses & Buds
Stop and Smell the Paper Roses
Join us for this workshop to learn our newest technique for making crepe paper roses. This workshop includes a new pattern and a full step-by-step video on how to create these flowers in three sizes plus a bud.
In this workshop, I will teach you how to make crepe paper roses and buds using double-sided crepe paper. And for the leaves and sepals, we will be using extra-fine crepe paper.
This video is for members only.

Let’s Get Started!
When you check out this workshop’s tools and materials list, you will see that you have some options for making these crepe paper roses. You can use our flower kit, which includes crepe paper, floral wire, and floral tape to make 12 roses. However, you can also grab the individual materials from our shop.
If you purchase the kit, keep in mind I have updated the rose template that comes with the kit, and you can download the updated SVG or PDF right here in the right column.
This new pattern for the petals makes it easier to form and shape a perfect rosebud and a small, medium, and full-size bloom. As always, there is flexibility to use the supplies you have on hand and to make whatever size roses you want after watching the video tutorial. For your reference, I have made three of each size.

I made blue roses for my daughters wedding and spray painted double sided white crepe paper to get the colour.
Great idea!
If I make these with the heavy crepe paper will they look OK? My brother wants the teal color for his wife.
They will not look as refined in the heavy crepe paper. I suggest you stretch it just a bit before cutting petals as it will make the paper thinner and less toothy.
I love this this workshop! The very first Lia Griffith flower I made was from the rose kit. (They say you never forget your first😁) It was a bit of trial and error, even though I wasn’t a great crafter I ended up with roses that looked like beautiful, realistic roses. I have since done other flowers but, I can’t wait to re visit the roses using the new tips in the workshop. I’m just finishing up a bouquet of Parrot Tulips, next will be Dogwood branches, then Daffodils. As I wrote before, I was never very crafty, but I am able to make beautiful, realistic looking flowers thanks to you!
Thanks, Debbie! This version with the new template is even better than the one in the kit. Let me know what you think when you finish it since you have done the previous version. Loved reading about your journey and I am telling you . . . you ARE now officially crafty! 😉
I bought you Crepe Paper Flowers book and was able to down load a SAG file with the password information given in the book. The file downloads but says it is empty and I am unable to open it or convert it from a zip file. I joined your membership, hoping that may help. I am disappointed. I am now having trouble just accessing any of your SAG files. I have ordered your supplies and do not need tutorials. I only joined this in order to use it with my Circuit maker. Please advise.
Hi Patricia! You do not need a membership to access the SVG cut files from the book. It sounds like you may have a pop-up blocker on or perhaps another issue with your internet browser. I would first try using a different web browser, but if you continue to experience issues please reach out to us directly at hello@liagriffith.com so we can be of more help! Include screenshots and error messages if you can.

We will have a new rose in June! But you can search “crepe paper rose” on our site and see all that we’ve already done!
I love this tutorial and I enjoyed making the roses 😍😍.🌹🌹🌹. There are so many different looks of roses. What kind of rose is that?
With greeting s -Karin
I’m so happy you enjoyed making them! It’s similar to an Ecuadorian rose.
You guys sent me a replacement of this crepe paper roses kit, due to the first one I ordered coming in having an issue with the double sided crepe paper (great and fast customer service, btw!) But, my replacement kit came in with tiny little like 8-10mm Styrofoam balls in it. Was this a mistake, or was there a reason it had such small ones included?
The original kit I received had the bigger 20mm balls included. Everything else was the same between the two kits, just different sized Styrofoam balls.
Hi Tiffany, can you please email us about this? hello@liagriffith.com
Could you make these with smaller cotton spun balls and if so nothing under what size would you recommend
I would stick with the 20mm or so– you can also use wood beads or felt balls in the 18-26mm range.
