This project is perfect for our intermediate to advanced crafters, but our video tutorial will be here to guide and support you no matter your skill level. These Crepe Paper Asters offer an excellent opportunity to build your flower-making confidence in a safe space. We’ll walk you through all the steps to create these lovely flowers while touching on the best tools, techniques, and materials to create a beautiful finished product.
Historically, asters have always been adored for their beauty. Even the name aster comes from the Greek word for “star,” as exemplified by their crown of spiky petals. In ancient times, worshippers would use aster to adorn altars in tribute to various gods. Symbolically, asters represent many virtues, but most commonly they are associated with love, wisdom, elegance, and faith.
To capture that fresh-from-the-garden look, we’ll use our extra-fine crepe paper in lilac and juniper, paired with heavy crepe paper in nectarine for the bright, golden centers. Another thing we love about crafting asters is how naturally they invite you to play with movement and flow. In nature, no two blooms look alike, so don’t worry about perfection. Mother nature knows what she’s doing, so just take her lead and let your Crepe Paper Asters twist, stretch, and bend any way that feels right.
So, don’t forget to check out our video tutorial on July 25 for step-by-step guidance and helpful tips along the way. We can’t wait to see how your paper flowers bloom, so don’t forget to tag us using #MadeWithLia when you’re all done. See you soon!
