Join us on Friday, February 21st, at Noon PT (re-scheduled due to a snowstorm in Portland), where we’ll guide you step-by-step through this intricate project. Though this Crepe Paper Cherry Blossom Branch is part of our eastern-inspired collection of crafts this month, these pretty pink petals are also perfect for Valentine’s Day. How fortuitous! Oh! If you happen to miss the live event, don't worry. Well post the link right here for you, so take your time.
The cherry blossom, or sakura, holds deep cultural significance in many Asian cultures. Known for its breathtaking, though fleeting appearance in springtime, the cherry blossom reminds us to stop and appreciate the present moment. Additionally, like many of the projects in this month's collection, the cherry blossom is a symbol of renewal and hope.
Firstly, throughout this workshop, we’ll show you techniques to take your crepe paper crafting skills to the next level. It's so important to have the support of your community when attempting something new or difficult, and that's what Member Make is all about. From perfecting the petal shapes to creating the branch structure, you’ll be learning how to make your Crepe Paper Cherry Blossom Branches look as realistic as possible. And while yes, these project do tend to be a bit more advanced, that's okay — we’ll be right there with you. So what are you, waiting for?
Once you’ve finished your Crepe Paper Cherry Blossom Branch, you’ll have so many ways to showcase it. Whether you use it as a centerpiece, hang it as wall art, or add it to a spring wreath, your beautiful blooms will remind everyone who sees it that beauty deserves to be celebrated — if only for a moment.
And, of course, we also want to see your beautiful creation. So be sure to share your finished cherry blossom branches on Instagram using #MemberMake.

Thank you – i love both beginner and advanced versions of cherry blossoms. Ended up making both on natural branches. One tip i’d like to share that if you do not own a petal shaping tool, my metal measuring spoons in 1/8th tsp and 1/6th tsp work great!
I love that you made both and I agree, I love both. You can not go wrong with cherry blossoms. And. . . what a great tip to use the small measuring spoons. You are so innovative!
My Cricut cut the white flower petals out terribly. Took notches out of the tops and sides of the large petals. I wasted so paper. I wonder what I did wrong?
Make sure you are using a rotary blade and the cotton setting with more pressure when cutting double sided crepe paper. I like to use a brayer or the curling tool to push the crepe paper into the mat before cutting. I would also recommend trying a new mat is yours is torn up at all. If none of these tips work try restarting your computer and recalibrating your machine!
Thanks. I will try recallibration.
Hello! Why do we cut the stamen pollen straight across instead of using pinking shears to soften the edge? Sorry if this is a silly question, I just want to learn to be a better crafter!
Hey Madeleine! I would use the pinking sheers too. I guess Meagan felt since we are rolling them between our fingers you do not need it, but I prefer the look of the pinking sheers. 🙂
Thank you so much!
Finished making my first branch this morning. It is so beautiful. Love the colors.
Love to hear that! 🙂
The large leaf halves on the SVG do not match up in size or shape to the PDF template. Which is correct?
Thanks for catching this Kelly! The PDF is correct and we have just updated it. 🙂
Looking forward to tomorrow. Cutting now, just checking, is there a difference between the bud and flower sepals?
Yes, they are the same size and shape. See you tomorrow!
Can I do this without the Maker or Silhouette?
Yes, you can! We have the PDF template for you.
