For this month’s Member Make workshop, we will be showing you how to make these crepe paper gerbera daisies that Meagan designed. This flower looks complicated because of the detail. But it is actually pretty simple once you master your fringing skills!
To prepare for our live workshop on April 22nd, make sure to check out our supplies list below and read our crafting tip as well as the instructions. If you can’t make the live, we will post the video tutorial here for you to watch later.
Brighten your daisy
Up until now, we have only made this type of daisy out of frosted paper. And other than our African daisies, we have not played around with mixing crepe paper colors for this flower. Since this flower does come in so many colors, it’s a great way to use crepe paper you already have at home to create different color combinations.
For our crepe paper gerbera daisies, we have listed below the colors we combined to make each flower. As always, you can use the exact colors we used or have fun experimenting! During our workshop, we will also show you how to color your Chiffon crepe paper with a Saffron marker as an alternative to using the Nectarine crepe paper. Of course you can always use other markers to make your daisies any kind of color you want.
These crepe paper gerbera daisies would be pretty on their own, or you can add them to a spring arrangement. We’d love to see what you do with them, so be sure to share photos on our Facebook page for members or by using the hashtag #MadeWithLia on Instagram.

Never thought I would be able to make this flower, but I’ve made at least ten of them now, and they are probably one of my favorites. Still have to refer back to the Member Make video, but it’s always fun to watch!
Thanks for such a beautiful diverse flower!
Love to hear that!!
With the thick flower stems, do you make the flower on the thinner end or the fatter end?
We almost always use the thinner end at the top by the flower. You can thicken it to match the rest of the stem if you like.
Hi Lia Have just made these awesome gerbera flowers just got leaves to make and then arrange them.Have treat myself to a cricut maker and it makes cutting flowers out so quick and easy.Love all the flowers you all make, can get more practice now at making flowers don’t have to cut out by hand. Thanks for everything Maggie
Congratulations!! That machine changed my life too. 🙂
Love this flower. Cut my first one by hand which was a bit laborious for the petal strips. My daughter has the cricut maker and tried to do these for me but it just totally shredded the paper 🥴 back to cutting by hand now, can’t keep testing this out and ripping paper up
Hi Elisabeth. There are some tips and tricks to cutting crepe paper. You can see some of them here in this video, but we are doing an update on this soon. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/cutting-machines-for-crepe-paper/
Thank you Lia the updated file worked perfectly.
FYI , on the small pedal strips, I ran a line of glitter glue at the base of the pedals and let it dry. It made it easy then to curl the pedals without them getting loose or falling off. I had cut a few prior to Megan changing the svg to make them stronger. Using the glue made it so much easier. I love this flower. Thanks so much!
That is brilliant Peg! I might use that trick as well. 🙂
I started watching this live but was interrupted by a sweet baby at the end of her nap. I just logged in and finish watching it was so delighted to hear my name drawn for the giveaway! I just discovered Lia a month ago and I’m already knee-deep in crepe paper making these beautiful flowers. And I can’t wait for the frosted paper class. I just wanted to say thank you.
Also a question if we wanted to make them smaller could we just scale the files smaller proportionately before we cut it? I know you have a mini Gerbera daisy but I really like this pattern
Thanks for all you guys do!
Congratulations! Be sure and email hello@liagriffith.com and we will get a box of goodies shipped out. Look forward to seeing you in our frosted paper class. It is a lot of fun.
You can definitely resize the daisy and make them smaller. Meagan updated the strip of tiny petals to make the base wider so the rotary blade would not cut into the edge as much so make sure you download the newer SVG if you are using a cutting machine.
Hello Lia, I am having an issue with the Cricut Design telling me it is not compatible with my Maker. I have updated my Cricut Design and restarted my computer and nothing seems to be working. Can you please advise me as I want to make these for Mother’s Day. Thanks and have a good day.
Be sure you are selecting the correct machine type before selecting “Make It”. You can change the machine type in the top right corner next to Make It. If this doesn’t solve your issue you will need to contact cricut customer service.
I’m having a problem with the small petals of the Gerber Daisy. My Cricut maker is cutting off the little petals off the base. You can actually see the line across before removing from mat?? Any suggestions?
We have updated the SVG pattern for the small petals to make the base a bit wider, I hope this solves the cutting issue for you! You will need to download the new SVG from the project post to get the updated pattern. 🙂
The photo tutorial doesn’t mention rolling the last stamen, so watch the video for how to do that.
Thanks for pointing that out Carrie. 🙂
Hi, So excited to make this project. Cricut continues to say the SVG file is incompatible with my Maker machine. I’ve updated
software and firmware and deleted and redownloaded file several times. I heard someone on the live video having the same issue.
Can you help?
Thanks!
I am not quite sure what to say. I just tested the file again and it seems to be working for me. Can you restart your computer.
I have a Blick Studio marker in Chartreuse and a Posca marker in yellow. Could I sub one of those for the Blick in saffron? I know it’s optional, but I’m guessing whatever you are doing with it will add nice detail. I hate shipping small items for one-off use; just not sustainable or cost-effective. I do not have a Blick store near me. Thanks for the thoughts.
I think one of those markers will work just fine. You can test them on the edge of a piece of crepe paper and see which you like the looks of best.
I hope I can join, how late is it? I am in Belgium
Hi Danielle! It is on the 22nd at 11:00 am Pacific time. That should be 8pm your time.
Oh, my – my calendar-brain is a bit mixed up, I guess. Well, that’s good news, then! I think I can make it, after all….
Hope to see you there! If not, we’ll have the recording up by end of day on the 22nd 🙂
I’m looking for the recorded workshop, since I wasn’t able to make the live make. How can I locate it? Looking forward to making my friend a bouquet of these, since they’re his favorite flower!
Jeanine
Hi Jeanine! We haven’t done the workshop yet. Check out the post for all the details! Our live workshop will be on the 22nd.
Can I ask what setting you use with the maker to cut the crepe paper?
Hi Laurie, we actually have a mini-course video that talks about that. The only difference at this point is that the crepe paper setting on the Cricut does cut the extra-fine crepe paper now. Here is a link to the video: https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/cutting-machines-for-crepe-paper/
How do I sign up for this Member Make? Thanks!
You do not need to sign up for these. On the monthly collection page under the grid, there is a video window. At the time of the class, you can access the LIVE there. We will also have the replay available at the same place.
This is really an upgrade since the first one I made from the template on your book . It looks so realistic! 😍. Really looking forward to be on the member make session. Any fringing that can be done upfront?
Yes, we have all grown along with you. 😉 I think you can start the fringing, yes. No need to rush that part. lol
Hi Lia, I am excited about this flower, well all the flowers in fact, my problem is keeping up, I will not say how far behind I am! My biggest problem is learning how to use this new cricut maker I bought in February. I am frustrated because I am a hands on learner and I am trying to go thru my instruction class of reading. Not a very good computer person either but as soon as I finish cleaning up the mess from having new windows in I can get back to my regular scheduled program. Thanks for listing and I will see you for this member make.
We are so happy you are here and yes, it takes a bit to learn that new Cricut. Be sure to watch our mini-course videos on how to use the Cricut for our projects. We have a selection of them in the Craft Academy. You might find some great tips there, especially for cutting crepe paper. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/
I love these flowers! Cannot wait to make them!
Thank you,
Carol
See you there!
