Purple Ranunculus – Member Make Workshop
Fluffy flowers
For our July Member Make workshop, Meagan will be showing us how to make this beautiful crepe paper purple ranunculus. This is a more full and fluffy ranunculus than we have done in the past. And it also includes buds and leaves to add to your arrangement.
To get prepared for our live workshop on July 16th, check out our tools and materials list below.
This video is for members only.
Goodies You Can't Google
You've found a member-exclusive project. But for less than the price of a fancy coffee... You'll get instant access to this and over 2,000 other premium projects inside the Lia Griffith membership!
Become a MemberIf you’ve made a ranunculus before, you know this flower has a lot of petals to layer. But we think it’s worth it! For this crepe paper purple ranunculus, you can cut the small petals by hand if you would like. However, we do recommend using a Maker or Cameo 4 for the leaves if you have one.
Don’t forget, you can always use another color of extra-fine crepe paper and experiment with how you color your petals. In our workshop, we will be showing you how to use PanPastel specifically to add more depth to your flower.
Crafting tips: We will be using all white glue just like in the last Member Make, so applying all of the (many) petals may be difficult for beginners. You must be careful to use small amounts of glue and allow it to dry/tack up if the paper becomes too wet.

Hi! I’m new here, and am excited to make this lovely flower! I have a question about the size of the leaf – from the PDF I printed it’s about 4″ tall. But I attempted to cut a template with my Brother Scan n Cut, and the leaf came out 2 3/4″ tall (I didn’t resize anything in Brother CanvasWorkspace). How tall is the leaf in your example? Thanks!
Welcome, Jennifer! This is a gorgeous flower to start with. The leaf is 4 inches tall. I do not use the Brother but I know that Cricut sometimes will resize the SVG so keep an eye on your uploads. If you print the PDF at full size, that will help you with sizing on all other projects. Yay! Share photos on our member FB page!!
Having a super time making theses flowers! I was wondering Did I see somershere that we are going to be making a Geranium at some point
I’m so glad to hear that Carol! No immediate plans for a geranium but we’ll add it to our idea list 🙂
I love the idea of doing bouquet arrangement workshops. Also, perhaps doing Colimbine.
just making the flower, thanks the camera was at a much better angle and close so we can see actually what Megan was doing this time best wishes to all
Hello! When I click on the link for the photo tutorial it just reopens the ranunculus page instead of the tutorial. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Heather Krawiec
The download has been fixed, please try again 🙂
I really enjoyed the Mamber Make yesterday, I love the ranunculas so much. Waiting for good light to take pics and the rain and clouds to disappear.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Can’t wait to see your photos 🙂
I see that you are using a different glue or glue bottle.
1 What is the glue? Or
2 what brand is the glue with the needle nose?
3. How do you keep the needle nose clean?
Thank you!
Hi Sarah– we talk about this glue option in the video at the 4:45 mark, and at 22:15 go into more detail and show the product. It’s called Art Glitter glue (there’s no actual glitter 😉 ), and there’s a link in the post. It comes with a needle to keep the metal tip clean.
Hi Lia, will you upload a photo tutorial for this ranunculus?
It will be uploaded as soon as Meagan is done photographing it 🙂
Loved this class. It was so much fun creating this beautiful flower with the 3 of you. Thanks!
I’m so glad you could join us!
First time ever in a flower making online class and looking so forward to it.
I’m so glad you will join us!!
Am I seeing things or are these petals that small. With the leaf so large, I am just confused
80 small petals adds up to be a lovely sized bloom, just you wait 😉
Thank you for creating the SVG in the most crepe paper saving format. I really appreciate this and I am sure fellow crafters will too!
🙂
I try to download a PDF file of the Ranunculus and when I logged in, the site did not recognize my name
Please send an email to hello@liagriffith.com so Emily can look into that for you 🙂
I’m ready Yay.
These look beautiful and I’m so excited to be able to come to the member make this month! I was wondering what other colors you all think these would look nice in? Could they look good in the same colors as the ones from last year? Thank you!
Oh yes, these would look beautiful in lighter colors (linen, blush), and bright colors (honeysuckle, coral, mango, poppy). Really any of our extra fine crepe paper colors would look lovely!
These are gorgeous! Looking forward to my first project. Ranunculus is one of my favorite flowers.
We love how this one turned out! Can’t wait for you to join us 🙂
Hi Lia,
I love all your crafts, and tried many too. And now Emily is also here, so congrats. I am enjoying crafts at my home. Wanted to say that can you also upload some origami crafts, I want to perform on origami as I am having many. So, hoping for the answer yes. Rest take care and will talk again.
Thankyou Lia and team,
Regards,
Sumedha
