I use Sidewalk Chalk. It works really well. A fellow artist friend gave me that tip.
That is a great inexpensive option!
What center colors would you recommend to make a fall sunflower? You don’t have brown heavy crepe paper. Thank you!
Hi Rebecca. We do not have brown in heavy crepe, but you can fold or even laminate the extra-fine brown to create a stiffer version of the brown. You could also mix in a bit of the copper crepe paper.
WILL THE NECTARINE PAPER BE AVAILABLE BEFORE CHRISTMAS?
Hi Elaine! Unfortunately it is looking like this color won’t be back in our shop before Christmas.
I have a couple questions:
Did you use heavy or extra fine juniper to cover the stems? I wasn’t sure which to use, the extra fine works so well covering the stems.
Can you use the Art Glitter glue to roll the center and just use the hot glue to add on the stem to the back side?
It’s such a pretty flower, I don’t want to make a mess of it lol. Thanks so much.
Yes, you are right! The extra-fine is the best to cover stems. You can use the heavy but I suggest you stretch it out first to make it smooth. For the center, I feel the hot glue gun is the better choice since it will cool fast and help bulk up the crepe.
Hi again. I decided to more or less work out the size on my own, so you can disregard my question. Just a friendly FYI, there is a fold line missing on the PDF for Stamen 1.
Thanks for pointing that out about the missing fold line. I was going to go measure the sunflower today. So I will reply to that question as soon as I do.
Hello! What is the diameter of this flower when made per the SVG file provided? Thank you so much.
It is 8.5 inches wide.
Is the length of stamen 1 correct. The template shows it as the same length as stamen 2 when it is cut. After stretching stamen 1 it becomes must longer than the stamen 2 that it is glued to. Show stamen 1 be shorter or should stamen 2 be stretched which gluing to be the length of the stretched stamen 1?
Love this flower!
When you stretch, lengths will vary. No worries. You can either pinch it together as you glue it onto the shorter layer or snip off the end.
Hi! I love this flower and have been waiting to make it for about 2 years. I was wondering if some of the colors of crepe paper can be substituted with extra fine? I know sometimes that won’t work but I don’t have all the heavy crepe paper colors and still want to make this. Thank you!
Hi! Extra-fine would work on the strips for the centers that we stretch (just cut the piece twice the length and don’t stretch it). You can certainly try extra-fine on the other parts of the flower, although it won’t have the same structure that heavy crepe paper provides.
Is there a way to do these with the thick stem wires? I’m a little unsure how to attach them so would appreciate any tips 😊
Hi! You could try a shorter grouping of the multiple wires attached (with floral tape) to the top of a thick stem wire?
Do you stretch the pear stamen 1 for each one before fringing or just the first one?
Yes, do that to all 5 pieces of Stamen 1 🙂
Good Morning! What are the dimensions of the jumbo crepe & felt sunflower & the dimensions of this crepe sunflower? I see in the material list that we need two crepes from 3 different packs. How many sunflowers can be made using this pattern with each pack. In other words, if I purchase all three packs how many sunflowers will I be able to make?
Thank you for the wonderful site and the vast amount of knowledge and encouragement you provide. 🙂
Hi Krystal! We now sell these colors individually, so I have updated the links. Each single color heavy crepe paper pack includes 2 rolls of crepe, so you would be able to make at least 4 sunflowers if you purchased 1 pack of each color. You’d have plenty left of every color except Nectarine (which is used for the petals). I hope this helps!
Hi,
Can I use your fringe scissors for the centers? What flowers do you use your fringe scissors for? Thank you!!
Hi Pilar,
You can use the fringe scissors with any flower that needs fringing, however the fringe scissors do not fringe as small as we like to and we always prefer using our detail scissors when fringing! 🙂
Hi Lia,
I cut the sunflower leaves using the cricut maker. Unfortunately, the leaves do nut cut in the direction of the grain shown on the pattern on your template and book. Can you have someone on our team fix the svg file so I can print the leaves using my maker? Thank you!!
Hi Pilar,
We have update the leaves so it should cut correctly now! 🙂
Is the size of Stamen 1 correct? In the video they look the same size of Stamen 2. Am I missing something? I would also like to request that you state in the information which colors go to which part in the future. I love your flowers and look forward to many more!
Hi Marilyn,
The size of stamen one is correct, you will fold it in half before fringing then fringe along the fold making it about the same size as stamen 2.

Hi! Any tips on making the cricut design space go faster? I’m trying to get everything cut but it’s very slow just to makke changes in size
Hi! Sadly no– because the software runs online, could it be your internet connection??
What happened to the size of the SVG pattern for the petals? I downloaded it in May (can’t find it now) and made the sunflower. The petals were much larger. I just re-downloaded it, and the large petal is just barely over 3″ long? Super small for a “giant” sunflower.
Hi Julie– this is our regular sized crepe paper flower. You must be thinking of our jumbo flower: https://liagriffith.com/jumbo-crepe-paper-sunflower/
This happened to me as well. The size of the SVG and the PDF are completely different now.
We’re experiencing an ongoing problem with Cricut resizing our SVG files 🙁 This just started happening about 2 weeks ago, and we’re waiting to hear that the issue has been fixed! It’s such a pain, we’re sorry 🙁
What happened to the instructions that were going to be sent via Email on this project?

Hi Lia and ladies, the member make has disappeared from my Facebook page, hope you can help
Hi Pat! Could you send an email to hello@liagriffithc.com ? We’ll get this figured out!
Lia, I am an annual member but cannot seem to find any emails regarding the monthly challenges with the link to SVG files or instructions. Also, when I try to download other SVG files it appears as a webpage instead of a straight file.
Please advise.
Hi Jen! We’ve just sent you an email regarding your comment.
Please make sure you check your spam folder for an email!

If I am going to have to go to youtube on a specific day or go to facebook I may discontinue my membership. I like to find what I need to do your flowers within your emails. Please send me the information the way you have been sending it. I am an avid fan but, have a life and don’t care for facebook. Thank you for considering sending the information that I am paying for through your link and not others.
Hi Cynthia– the Monthly Member Make Challenge YouTube video is sent to all annual members the morning after the event via email. If you keep your eye on your inbox on the first Saturday of each month, you will find the video tutorial there. We never exclusively share anything on the Facebook group– that is primarily for community discussion. Someday we hope to have our own community board/discussion forum on our website but don’t have the bandwidth to add that to our site right now.
Hi Lia and Team,
I am unable to see any of the pictures/images after this sentence: “Featured Photos From the September Member Make Challenge”
Please help!
Bonnie, the images appear on our end just fine– can you send an email to hello@liagriffith.com with a screenshot of what you’re seeing?
