Become a MemberSome of my favorite memories from my childhood are the times that my loved ones and I had large family gatherings on beautiful sunny afternoons. Because we were a family of makers, we always went all out with our decor, food, and activities planned. Family is so important to me, and I know that it is important to all of you too! When a reader wrote in asking my team and I to design a family reunion invitation, we happily accepted the project idea! Building on that concept, we also came up with a customizable reunion t-shirt to wear at your family gathering.
This iron-on design can be used on any cotton fabric. I would recommend washing the shirt before applying the iron-on because you want your surface to be as smooth as possible (stay away from ribbed t-shirts!). First, start by buying your iron-on material (see Shop this Project). Next, download the PDF below. There are two choices in design: one with a navy background and one with a slate grey background. Each reunion t-shirt includes an editable monogram with an orange geometric pattern that matches our reunion invitations. On each design, every piece of text is editable except for the word “reunion”. To edit these designs, you will need to download the free fonts Homestead, Arcon, and Abraham Lincoln. You will need a combination of Abraham Lincoln and Arcon to edit the navy design, and a combination of Homestead and Arcon for the slate design.
Before printing your reunion t shirt, you will need to go into your printer settings and mirror the image. If you do not mirror the image, your iron-on will be backwards! Normally we would mirror our iron-on designs for you, but unfortunately you will not be able to edit the text if the image is already mirrored. After your mirror your image, you can load your iron-on paper into your inkjet printer (you must use an inkjet for this paper!). We popped it into our gold PIXMA MG7720 Wireless Photo All-in-One Printer and it was ready to go. Cut out your design and follow the instructions included with your specific iron-on material.
Make a reunion t-shirt for every member of the family and enjoy your family reunions this summer! If you are looking for more party ideas and inspiration, be sure to get your hand on a membership to never miss a project or download! I would love to see these t shirts in action, so be sure to share your photos with me by sending them in to hello@liagriffith.com or tagging me on your Instagram photos. Cheers! ~ Lia
