Butterflies are renowned for their exquisite wing patterns, each species showcasing a kaleidoscope of colors and designs. So, with that in mind, we created our butterfly ornaments with a sweet floral pattern embroidered on their delicate wings. Since we’re oh-so-close to Christmas, we stuck to a palette of berries, dusky pinks, and eucalyptus green for a festive holiday look. However, feel free to choose whichever colors match your established holiday decor.

Whether you’re a seasoned embroidery enthusiast or a crafting beginner, this project provides the perfect opportunity to create something fresh and new for the holidays. We would love to see these embroidered butterfly ornaments hanging from your holiday tree! Share your pics with us in our crafters’ community or on Instagram using the hashtag #MadeWithLia.

Tip
If you need a guide as you stitch, we recommend using the PDF template and a disappearing fabric pen to mark your details. Additionally, for an even easier option, you can print the template onto Fabri-Solvy and apply it directly to the butterfly wings. Just align with your felt details and then stitch away!

Stitches Used
Whip, Straight, Back, French Knot, and Split Stem stitch.
