FeltStickHorse1Last year I posted my tutorial and pattern for these adorable felt stick horses. I know a project like this can be daunting for some so we have put together a video tutorial that shows you step by step how to cut, glue and sew your horse together. You can order the gorgeous felt from Benzie Design for this project. Her wool mix felt is wonderful to the touch and easy to sew and she has a great selection of colors. We used Graphite, Smoke and Seaside. For one horse you will need a piece of 12×18 inch felt for the head and ears and one 9×12 inch felt for the mane. You will also need: batting filler, two small black buttons, a 4′ long 5/8″ dowel, embroidery thread and an optional ribbon for the neck. From your craft tool stash you will need: pinking sheers, fabric scissors, sewing machine (though a hand stitch would be gorgeous on this horse), embroidery needle and hot glue gun. The stitching I use is a very basic running stitch so don’t be put off! It really is very simple to achieve and the results are just gorgeous. Once you have made one, the chances are you won’t stop until you have your very own paddock of felt hobby horses. I have included a printable pattern for you to download and print in this post. If you make your own felt hobby horse we would LOVE to see your work. Share it with us across Instagram, Twitter and Facebook using the #liagriffith hashtag. Enjoy! ~ Lia
