I have been trying to get this to work on my silhouette cameo 3 . i have tried both svg and pdf. When i try to open the file through silhouette it says file type not supported. i know for a fact that both file types are supported. very frustrating
Hi Brandy! Did you reach out to Silhouette’s customer service about this? The files should work with your Cameo (and have for other Silhouette users) so please let us know if you find out more details why you’re getting those error messages! hello@liagriffith.com
Try make on my cricut t marker and pop up from the machine said Project incompatible this project is not supported by your machine.
There is a technique for using our SVG files on the Cricut. We have a video in our Craft Academy that gives you the steps.
The SVG file is not available. Also, when I clink the PDF, there is only text and no image. Please help. I signed up to get the SVG file for this flower.
Hi and welcome!! The downloads are hosted on Paper Papers site for this sponsored post– did you click the links at the bottom of this post? https://www.paperpapers.com/news/jumbo-peonies-flower-backdrop/. I just double-checked and they worked for me.
I have spent all afternoon trying to get my Cricut Explore Air 2 to cut the Metallic Peony pattern. First problem was my machine telling me a piece was more than 23.5in and too big to fit on mat. That was a head scratcher…none of the patterns were anywhere near that size. I finally realized my machine saw the Lia Griffith logo and the entire blank canvas area as a cut…so I x’d that out..ok that was fixed. Next my machine was reading only cut 2 petals of everything else. I tried duplicating the large petal first…instead of duplicating just that petal it was duplicating everything! I give up…has to be another pattern out there for a pretty peony svg. Worried if any sites are safe…bought a couple patterns from Dreamyposy and 2 days later my credit card was hacked. Got the cricut for Christmas and have shed more tears of frustration than made anything pretty.
Hi Diane,
So sorry for your frustration this is a more complicated flower to cut and set up in design space if you are newer to using a cricut. Check out our video guide on how to use our SVG files with the cricut here https://liagriffith.com/how-to-use-svg-files-for-cricut/
To make 1 large flower, you will need 16 8.5×11 for petals, 1 8.5×11 for center. For 1 medium flower, 14 8.5×11 for petals, 1 8.5×11 for center. For 1 small flower, 9 8.5×11 for petals, 1 8.5×11 for center. For leaves, 3 8.5×11 to make the two leaves.
Continue gluing the remaining small petals around the flower in layers of three.
Repeat step 7 with the medium sized petals.
To finish the flower glue the six large petals evenly around the flower in layers of three.
… etc, etc. BUT ‘groups of three’ – yet we cut 16 petals for the large, and 14 for the medium. if used in groups of 3 there will be 1 large petal left over, and 2 medium petal left over. What gives?
Hi Diane,
The numbers you see are the number of 8.5×11 sheets of paper you will need in each color for each flower size if you cut multiple petals out of one sheet of paper. Please refer to the PDF template for the number of petals you need for each flower size.
Hello,
I did not find any template for this Peony only instructions. Thank you!
Hi Iryna,
This project is sponsored by paper paper and they are providing the pattern for this project, you can find the link to their website with the pattern in the post!
what is text weight paper?
Hi Kat,
Text weight paper refers to the weight of the paper, the weight is most similar to thin copy paper versus the weight of heavier card stock paper.
Hi. Could these be made using crepe paper?
You could try, but this template will work best on frosted paper. We do have this one for crepe paper: https://liagriffith.com/diy-jumbo-paper-peonies/
oooh, thank you!
Mmy sister and I have made several of this giant phones & have cut the flowers by hand. I have had so many complimen . They are lovely.
Yay! I’m so glad to hear this 🙂
Hello,
I am attempting to make these flowers for a backdrop at a party. I am confused about the number of sheets and petals I need to print. The directions above say Large Flower – 16 8.5×11 for petals, 1 8.5×11 for center; Medium Flower – 13 8.5×11 for petals, 1 8.5×11 for center; Small Flower – 3 8.5×11 for petals, 1 8.5×11 for center. But when I open the PDF file I see different numbers on each page. For example page 1 of the PDF directs to cut 6 petals for the small flower then, page 2 directs to cut 15 petals for a small flower. Can you help me please?
Thank you!
The directions indicate how many sheets of paper you’ll need to make each flower. The pattern directs you how many petals to cut from those sheets of paper. Does that make sense?
About how big in diameter are the large, medium and small flowers?
It depends how much you curl the petals (the more curling, the tighter the blooms will be) but ours were approximately 18″, 12″ and 8″ wide in diameter.
I can’t see SVG/PDF CUTTING FILE, When I go to Paper-Papers.com, it shows below information

Please how I can get the file
Thanks

Just got a cricut maker. Can’t wait to start making flowers!
Yay so happy for you! 🙂
Hi I just made 2 of these and love them! How would you recommend hanging them on a wall?
So glad you love them! We love using the 3M brand Command hooks or velcro hanging (depending on the surface you’re hanging them on).
What is the base of the flower? Is it a circle or hexagon?
Hi Sue! There isn’t a base to the flowers. The petals fill in enough and overlap that a base isn’t needed.
I would like to know how to use your SVG files. They upload to design space on one page. I am not used to this format. Please explain the steps I must take to cut your files.
We have a great post and a video on using SVG files on a Cricut: https://liagriffith.com/how-to-use-svg-files-for-cricut/. If you need more help, check Cricut’s YouTube channel for more!
We made a bunch of these for a non-profit gala and they turned out BEAUTIFULLY. We cut by hand, curled by hand, and used tissue paper for the yellow centers.
I’m so happy to hear this! Sounds beautiful 🙂
Thanks so much for sharing your design, I’ve always wanted to try making these and am super inspired. I just started cutting the petals with my machine and can’t wait to assemble them or find a reason to use it!
how many sheets of paper do you need for each flower
Large Flower – 16 8.5×11 for petals, 1 8.5×11 for center
Medium Flower – 13 8.5×11 for petals, 1 8.5×11 for center
Small Flower – 3 8.5×11 for petals, 1 8.5×11 for center
Leaves – 3 8.5×11 to make the two leaves
I do not see a SVG file for a cutting machine. I would love to have one.
Hi Carolyn, there’s a link in the post that directs you to Paper-Papers.com– they are hosting the SVG file and PDF for this project.
