The peony is one of my favorite flowers. Their large, ruffled blooms are stunning on their own. But they also look so beautiful mixed in with bouquets and floral centerpieces. This crepe paper red charm peony is a great flower to make for fall. In fact, if you're having a fall wedding, this peony would be perfect to add into your bridesmaids' bouquets or your own bouquet. Not only do these peonies look gorgeous in a wedding bouquet, but they are also known as a symbol of good fortune and a happy marriage.

I want to make the red charm peony but I want to make it 1/2 the size. The original is too big for my arrangement. What is the best way to adjust my svg download as well as the center piece on the template to cut 1/2 the size. thank you
You can use the measurement tool in the top bar of the Canvas. Select all of the layers, then reduce their size in the field by half. That should do the trick. 🙂
Yes, you can ungroup all of the layers by using the ungroup tool at the top of the left bar. You can also ungroup each individual set by selecting that set and clicking that same double square icon.
Do you mean the size of the file? Or the setting for the crepe paper cutting? If it is the first, it seems that occasionally, Cricut will enlarge or reduce the file from the original. That is why we are adding that layer with the rectangle around the whole thing along with the size. I will update this file to include that.
Hi, just to let you know the svg file shows the petals round, but once the cricut maker cuts them, they turn out oval. I called cricut and they said the problem was in the svg file… In case you want to try it out, maybe they are not right and it is my maker, buy just in case they are right, wanted to let you know.
When I look at the SVG raw file, the petals are oval. So, Cricut is cutting them correctly. YAY! You can also see when you open the PDF the shape of the petals. 🙂
This is beautiful. I cut the file on my Cricut and was confused when Lia was talking about nine petals. When I open the SVG file in my browser I see all the petals but the 4 ovals are missing when I upload to Cricut Design Space. The grain lines are showing but not the petals. I was able to print a PDF and cut the 4 missing petals. I’m not sure why this happened. It would be helpful to know what I could do to cut all the petals on my Cricut so I could make another flower.
This is something that is happening with Cricut’s updated software; we have found a workaround but have to go back and fix each file when members point the files out. We have a LOT of SVG files. Thank you for pointing this out, and I will update it.
You do not cut off the pinked edge when shaping the fringe into petals. You are just rounding off the corners of each fringe and leaving the pinked top edge in the middle uncut!
How many flowers can you do from one roll/piece of heavy crepe paper that is 9.8″ x 39.3″? I’ve ordered some of your crepe paper and I’m so excited to start making flowers!
Yay so excited for you! This particular peony uses a lot of crepe paper and you can get 2 Red Charm Peonies from one roll of the heavy crepe paper (keep the cuts as close together as possible to save enough for 2 flowers).
Unfortunately, we have had to place a hold on making the monthly member makes for November and December. We hope to have them back in January but for now we are doing a lot of other videos that we are sure you are going to love!!

I’m trying to cut this on my Cricut but the pieces are locked together so I can’t make them fit. Is it possible to ungroup the pieces?

Since you now sell the smaller v pinking shears, would you recommend them for this flower and would you still use the foam egg?
Yes, I would use the smaller V pinking sheers. For the foam egg I would replace that with a paper spun egg or ball.
A tutorial on how to make the centerpiece featured in this post would be awesome!

When you shape the petals, are you cutting off all the fringe you cut with your pinking shears?

You do not cut off the pinked edge when shaping the fringe into petals. You are just rounding off the corners of each fringe and leaving the pinked top edge in the middle uncut!
Do you need to used an egg form? Can you use a round ball?

I’m trying to do this flower and I do not understand what your twisting ? Are you twisting each pedal ? I don’t understand it
I’m scrunching it together, not twisting the individual petals.
