My Christmas Tree Reveal

I did say I would reveal my tree on Black Friday and here it is. . . Sunday. Oh dear! I just finished my Thanksgiving weekend where I made dinner for 21 family members and today the last of the group headed home. My house is quite and my tree sparkles. My tree is decorated in memory of my mom. This is the one year anniversary of her passing and having my family here this weekend brought back many memories of my creative mom. I do miss her. I know she would love this tree. It is soft, delicate and lovely just as she was. Last year I designed the paper bird around the time of her death. As she loved birds, I have always seen her in this little 3D sculpture. For her memorial service I perched a paper bird on the top of the large floral bouquet at the front of the church. This tree is for you, mom. You were always full of love, peace and joy.

Other than the glass balls and gold twigs, this tree is packed with homemade Christmas tree ornaments. Here is a list and where you can find the templates and tutorials on my blog: paper birds || felt garland || paper cut ornaments || 3D snowflakes || crepe paper pine cones || round pine cone ornaments || large paper pine cones || glitter dipped paper balls (no tutorial, just tissue wrapped foam balls, paint glue on bottom and dip in glitter) || gold paper star topper (I just made that today) || tree from Balsam Hill (since I have my tree up so early I love a good artificial tree and this one looks very much like a live tree).
Hope this gives you some inspiration for making your own handcrafted Christmas tree. For my tips on holiday tree decorating you can see this post. Cheers! ~ Lia

Dear Lia,
Thank you Lia for sharing such a personal and beautiful story about your dear, loving mother in such a creative and special way with your Christmas tree. I am truly touched!!! A creative extension of your love for your mom. You can help others learn to express their love through their own creativity and find peace in remembrance. This resonates so much with me being a creative person and how creating can express many emotions that are kept deep inside ourselves. Your mother, no doubt, is proud of who you are!!! (and all your accomplishments!!!)
I lost my dear mother seven years ago in September of 2013. She was vivacious and beautiful, full of life! She was Christmas to me!!!
She loved to decorate, cook, everything about making a home warm and inviting. She was very talented at most things. I really enjoyed making things for her, to spoil her. She had cancer and though it started in one area of her body, it quickly metastasized. In seven months she passed. She was like a different person and she suffered a lot. It was a very difficult process to go through with her. I think losing her has actually made me stronger because of the love that we share. I have three older girls now and mom used to love to read to them when they were little. One book she loved to read to them was, “I’ll love you forever.” I remember thinking it was a strange book at the time. Now I think of it as a message to me, that she will love me forever. She is loving my girls forever too and looks down upon us from her heavenly place. We can have hope to be reunited again one day. Feeling blessed to have such a good mother and all the love we shared together. Thanks again for sharing with us! It helps us to remember!
Cher
Thank you for your message, Cher. It brought tears to my eyes as I remembered my mother. She also passed 7 years ago in December, so close to the time of your mother. I feel my mom’s presence to this day and know I am an extension of her own creative work while she was here. This company is her. And what a reminder to treasure every moment with our own daughters. Wishing you the best holiday season. Lia
Just beautiful!
Thanks Pam!
Linda sua Ă¡rvore de natal , assim como todo seu trabalho .

What a wonderful tree! And what warm words for your Mom. She will love your tree looking from above. I’m deeply impressed! Warm greetings Undine
Thank you so much. I am so humbled by all of your comments. Thank you!
Nothing so bittersweet as to celebrate a holiday with a parent not with you – or anyone not with you for that matter. It is fortunate we have the memories and I am sure your Mom would be smiling at the tree you made for your family. It is truly gorgeous and touching.
Thank you so much. Your comment warms my heart!
I think your tree is stunning. The precious hours that went into this is beyond words. Once can feel the love that you have for your mom through this masterpiece!!!! Also – your mom had to be one phenomenal woman through what she instilled in you!!! I don’t doubt for one minute that she is looking down at that tree and smiling because she is so proud of you!!!!
Your comments really warms my heart! I do feel very fortunate having such a lovely mom.
Just lovely! Your mother must be so very proud of you, as well she should be. Have a wonderful holiday. I know your mom would want that for you.
Thank you so much, that is really sweet. I do especially miss my mom during the holidays.
What a gorgeous tree! It’s a stunner
Thank you so much! Hope you have a lovely holiday!
I love your tree, it’s so elegant! I love all the handmade ornaments. This is my first Chritsmas living on my own and I decorated my tree with handmade ornaments too (you can see it here https://twitter.com/Wamiba/status/539065332141674497). It is not as amazing as yours is, but I’m pretty happy with my crochet balls and felt mushrooms đŸ˜€
How cute!! Thanks for sharing!
Oh dear…this post made me cry..in a good way, remembering those we love who are now only in our memories..what a stunning tree! Had difficulty finding wool blend felt locally so ordered it and I’m making my felt garland today! Yay, my mum would have loved that…I must upload a photo for you one day of my mum at work she was an embroiderer with raffia on hand made linen baskets, moses baskets etc…
I do want to see your photos! Let me know when they are live! đŸ™‚
