We’re having a ball!
The beauty of using wooden balls is that you can leave part of the ball showing. The wood grain adds a lovely texture to your tree and looks great no matter the color palette you chose to use. To add a bit of holiday shine and keep these painted wooden ball ornaments looking more natural, we used a gold, copper, and white craft paint. But of course you can use any colors you like!
We would love to see how you decorate your tree for Christmas, so be sure to share with us by posting photos to our Facebook page for members or by tagging #MadeWithLia on Instagram.
How to Make Painted Wooden Ball Ornaments
Begin with a selection of wooden balls in various sizes and screw eye hooks into the top. You can then tape off parts of the wooden balls with washi tape and begin painting. We suggest that you tape all the balls first, then paint all the gold parts. Leave them to dry, peel off the tape, and repeat the same process with the next color, then the next.
Once your layers are dry, you can add some gold floss to the eye screw and your wooden ball ornaments are ready to hang.

I actually sell these wooden balls in my Etsy shop. http://Www.toyingaround.etsy.com. I would say if you went with a 2″ or smaller you would be okay on the weight for your branches. Such a great idea!
Thanks for the link!
Awesome ornaments! Love these!!….. I’m looking at getting the large wooden balls to make diy ornaments as well, and was curious if you think the large ones are too heavy for the tree? Thank you!!
It just depends on the type of tree you have, but they should be fine on thicker branches 🙂
Love these! Such fun!
Thank you so much!! 🙂
