Your Own DIY Haunted House!
Once cut, this DIY haunted house is easy to assemble and you can use it in a pumpkin or as a Halloween decoration on its own. If you’re feeling like taking it a step further, we also have an entire haunted village for Halloween! This DIY paper village can be made using a personal cutting machine – download the SVG cut files below, or you can cut by hand if you’re the patient type!
Top Tips!
We like to use black shimmery card stock for our paper houses. Using a cutting machine is by far the easiest way to make this Halloween DIY, but if you’re going to cut by hand, use our PDF print out and a sharp craft knife. For the windows we use vellum paper and stick it in with glue dots or tape strips. It’s a good idea to use tape strips to assemble so that you can easily pull apart and store for next year! Always use a battery operated LED tea light inside – the flickering ones are particularly effective in this fun Halloween DIY!

Hi! I was wondering if you would print the PDF template straight onto the fabric cardstock? I do not have a Cricut.
Yes you can print the PDF directly onto cardstock if you want!
Hi Lia I tried to download the SVG to my Cricut explore 2 and it states it unsupported file type. Could you help me out here..
Lori
Hi Lori,
Everything is looking good on our end, could you please send a screenshot of the error message you are receiving to hello@liagriffith.com so we can better assist you! 🙂
I am having the same problem. It also states unsupported file type. How can I get this to work?
Just in case you are newer to uploading SVG files, this video should be helpful! https://liagriffith.com/video-tutorial-svg-files/. Be sure you are unzipping the file before uploading to Design Space. If you’re having a different issue, please send a screenshot of what you’re seeing to hello@liagriffith.com.
Hi,
Could you please tell me what weight the fishing line is? Need to order some and there are a million choices.
Hi Amy,
We would recommend this line – https://www.amazon.com/OOK-Invisible-Hanging-Supports-50-Pounds/dp/B000FSS39M/ref=asc_df_B000FSS39M/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198055620944&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1837852179050973311&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-340257711497&psc=1
I bought the haunted house and haunted village kits yesterday. So adorable! Could not wait to get home and start construction. I assumed there would be instructions included in the kit. Silly me. None there. Because the kit is taped closed, there is no way to see what is or is not included. Or what are the additional supplies needed. Very disappointing. Did not realize pieces need to be glue-gunned together. I thought they would be more “tongue and groove” type of construction. Also some of the pieces are not intuitive in their steps and locations.

We were thinking that the instructions would be included as well. Surprised. Try this post for all of the houses. https://liagriffith.com/3d-paper-haunted-village/
Where did you find a craft pumpkin that size? I can’t find one that big anywhere.
I found this one at Michaels.
Soooo cute. Need to do this for our office collection. Hope there’s a craft pumpkin left that’s big enough. And thank you for sharing. What a gift!
It was really fun to make:-)
thanks very amazing, can i request for tutorial tie bow uniq…?
Thank you:-) I am not sure if I understand your question correctly. If you are looking for a tutorial on how to tie a bow we got this one:-)
I had a hard time finding the textured paper used in this project. Is it possible you can name the exact paper, provide a link and/or mention where exactly to buy it?
It is from Michaels. They don’t always have names on their paper as they can be bought in single sheets. They have a lot of lovely options, so you may find something you like even better. 😉
Thanks for sharing this project and providing both PDF and SVG files! We are sharing your post on our Facebook page today, hope that is ok!
Susan
Thank you for the link back love:-)
Nice craft. I saw it on pinterest and it’s really cute. I wonder if I can do that myself. Lol
Once you have completed the cutting the rest is a breeze:-)
I love it! Thank you for the files!! I’m looking forward to seeing that village you are creating!
You are so welcome!! It is looking too adorable! 😉
ma fare soldi con la pubblicità no?
Hi Sara, We have taken down half of the outside ads already and hope to be able to remove the balance by next month. It is always a little tricky to switch business models and still cover our overhead in the middle of the switch. 😉 I look forward to our ad free site.
Hi Geovanna. I wrote a post about our recent change here in the post. Hopefully that will help you understand why we are not offering a very affordable membership. 😉

Hi Brenda. I talked about our business change here in this post: https://liagriffith.com/confessions-of-a-blogger-part-2/
It was a big decision for us to make this change and we do not take it lightly. Bottom line. . . we need to keep this business alive. 😉
It would be nice to just have a pay-as-you-purchase option. Is this an option?
We feel this is such a better deal for our readers as we would be selling each item at $5-25 each as we do in our Etsy shop. https://www.etsy.com/shop/LiaGriffith?ref=hdr_shop_menu
I’m just wondering what you’ve found to be the blackest black cardstock for cutting. I’ve noticed it varies pretty widely.
Yes, we used a shimmer stock which looks a bit more grey, but for our village (coming soon) we did use a variety. The blackest I found was at Michaels and is a matte paper.
This is brilliant! Thank you for another amazing idea!!
Yay! You are welcome!!
I’m so glad you did this project 2 months before halloween. For someone like me, who lives in Italy it means time to order all materials. Thank you 😉
We try to get a head start with every holiday but sometimes miss the boat. This one. . . we did it!!. 😉
Wish I had the $5/mo to give you, as you and your team surely deserve it!
Be blessed! 🙂
His,
joy
Stay tuned for some upcoming giveaways were we will be offering a one year membership to the winner. 😉
