Crepe Paper Red Poppy
If you’ve been with us for a while, you know poppies are a pretty popular flower around here. These delightful crepe paper red poppy blooms grow on nearly every continent and come in a surprising number of sizes, shapes, and colors, making them a great choice for decorative bouquets. For this project, we’ve decided to revamp a classic with this beautiful red crepe paper poppy featuring a more challenging design.
Due to its many small pieces, you’ll need a steady hand to carefully place the more intricate details at the flower’s center — an ideal craft for our more advanced members. Once you’ve gathered your materials, check out our tutorial below.Â

Styled as one vibrant stem or placed in a dramatic arrangement, these crepe paper beauties will definitely make a statement. The highly detailed, delicate black center offers a gorgeous contrast against full, open petals of cherry red. If you want to punch up your bouquet with a few more brightly colored flowers, try these crepe paper chrysanthemums for a bit of added flair.
We’d love to see your version of this crepe paper poppy, so be sure to share a photo in our crafter’s community or on Instagram with the hashtag #MadeWithLia.
Skill Level: Advanced due to the intricate detailing in the center of the flower and its many small pieces.
Crating Tip: Using needle-nose tweezers to place the black center details and the black petal details will make handling the smaller pieces much easier.

Please excuse the request, I found the tutorial. Thanks!
Oh, good!!
I download the patterns for the poppies but I can’t find the tutorial.
Everything is in the one zip folder. 🙂
Love these new poppies. But I want to add a few pods. The ones I see on other patterns on the site do not really match these with the black center. What would you recomend?
I recommend you use this template but make them smaller to match the size of this red poppy. https://liagriffith.com/crepe-paper-icelandic-poppies-workshop/
I think you have to look at the turorial for the poppy flower, because it is not that flower, which is shown but the plumeria flower
Sorry for my english , I am danish
I just checked the zipped file, and it does include the correct tutorial. Maybe take another look?
Having just finished the Master Class I am now well versed in attaching leaves in two pieces so am trying to work out how to attach the leaves with only one piece?? Do you just leave it as per the picture in the tutorial with the wire showing?
For these tiny leaves, you add a tiny line of glue onto the wire, then pinch the leaf around the wire and open it back up and flatten it. Does that help?
I am a new member and I am at my wit’s end trying to find this tutorial. I found the ones for
the plumeria and the double hibiscus, but can’t find the red poppy. Oh, and by the way, I am electronically challenged! HELP! Thanks and please don’t kick me out!
Hi Carol! Your message made me giggle. I think I am a bit challenged too. Lol. We are now putting all of the downloads into one zipped folder. You will find the tutorial in that download. Once you put the zipped folder onto your computer, just double-click it to unzip. No software is needed. Let me know if you need more help. We are always here for you.
I preferred the other way. Finding this way a bit complicated. Got spoiled with how you had it.
I love that we have a few versions, so you can pick your personal favorite. 🙂
I feel silly, I can’t find the tutorial. Where is it?
We changed things a bit, and now all the files are in one folder to download.
