Become a MemberFelt has to be the easiest fabric to work with. So designing super cute projects for you to make at home is on the top of our “favorites” list at the moment. Our felt finger puppets were a joy to design and even more fun to make. We like to create projects that are achievable for everyone and this project hits the nail on the head.
Today we’re going to show you just how simple it is to create these safari animal finger puppets out of felt. But if you’re looking for something even easier, check out our woodland animal stick puppets. We also have more felt finger puppets you can make in addition to the ones we’re sharing with you today, like this wizard and dragon set and our winter animal set.
Safari Fun
There are five animals in this felt finger puppets set: a baby monkey, little giraffe, a ring-tailed lemur, baby leopard, and tiny gazelle. Once you have the templates, you can literally make as many as you want. We thought they’d make great DIY crafts for kids to complete at a children’s birthday party, to pop into goody bags, or to give as a gift to a school friend. That being said, this project is also great for adults who are learning basic stitching and want to create cute and simple handmade toys for their kiddos.
We used a good quality felt to make our finger puppets, which means they can stand upright on a toy shelf or windowsill when they’re not being played with. They make a super cute display! Have fun making your felt finger puppets, and if you’re after more DIY inspiration, come see us on Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram for a daily dose of crafty goodness.

Hi Lia,
Do you have an SVG version for these safari animals? They are so cute!

Hola, querÃa saber donde se pueden conseguir los moldes. Gracias
Puede conseguir los moldes con una membresia 🙂
Is that a blanket stitch on the edge?
Yes it is! Good eye!
I am sorry. These are gorgeous patterns and you will find many finger puppet patterns on Etsy for $5 a piece. . . Here you get 25+ new patterns, printables, and template for just a mere $5.
i don’t do paper crafts. do i need to buy anything special to make these crafts?
how do you cut the very tiny felt dots?
i am thinking about doing some for sunday school. i will cut out felt pieces, and the kids can glue the bits together.
i just need to understand how all of this comes about.
i knit, sew, cross stitch, crochet, needlepoint etc. no paper/felt crafts under my belt.
i may sign up for a month to see, but i need to know about buying stuff to accomplish the finished product.
hope this makes sense.
Hi. You just need a good pair of fabric scissors, embroidery floss, needle and felt. And a printer to print the pattern. The dots and stripes we draw in with a black market. If you knit, sew, cross stitch and do crochet etc this will be a breeze for you:-)
thanks.
Love the finger puppets. Just one thing – that ‘racoon’ looks an awful lot like a Ring-tailed Lemur.
Why yes it is! 😉
Well, I didn’t believe it would… but at best a real person read it!!!
Yes, we actually read and respond to every comment. 😉
OH my gosh, your little model for finger puppets is adorable, what a gorgeous child. She has a lovely head of curly hair also, almost looks like Shirley Temple. She looks like she was having great time being your model for this project. These finger puppets are one of cutest things, want to make them soon. Waiting on felt order.
Happy week
Thank you. I know isn’t she adorable, she is just as sweet in real life. We just love her!!
These are adorable!
Thanks Jane!
