Become a MemberEarth Day is on April 22nd, and it is always a good reminder to respect and take care of our wonderful and beautiful world. There is, of course, an emphasis on recycling and composting. And in past years I have designed printable recycling labels and trash can labels for your home and special events. But Earth Day is not just about cleaning up our surroundings. It is also about nurturing Mother Nature and appreciating all the gifts she has to offer. This year we came up with a fun (and free) Earth Day craft that is perfect for environmentalists of all ages!
These little seed packet sets would be wonderful as an Earth Day gift or party favor. I could also see this as a great activity for teachers to do with their students or for parents to do with their kids. Doing this Earth Day craft would be a perfect opportunity to teach your little ones about the importance of environmentalism.
All you need to assemble these gift sets are small terra cotta pots, paper, and of course your seed packets. We made a trip to our local Michaels to pick up our cute 4-inch tall terra cotta pots and found our seed packets on Amazon. Of course, you can also find seed packets at your local nursery or gardening center.

Instructions
Start by downloading the templates below. The download includes the printable envelopes to stick your seeds inside, the gift tag to hang off the side of your pot, and the green leaf band to wrap it all together.
We printed our adorable seed envelopes with our Canon PIXMA MG7720 Wireless Photo All-in-One Printer and it worked like a dream! Simply print the envelopes onto regular printer paper and they turn out beautifully. The front of the envelope features a pretty floral design and a space to write in the contents of the seed pack. The back of the envelope has a cute black and white polka dot design. Fold the flaps inward and use a glue dot roller or glue stick to secure the envelope together.
We then printed our gift tag onto white card stock. Cut the tag out and use a circle punch to punch a hole in the corner. This way you can attach the tag to your terra cotta pot using twine or string.
You will also find both a PDF and SVG version of the leaf band design. Use the PDF if you are cutting by hand or the SVG if you will be using a cutting machine. We used pretty green metallic text weight paper for our band, but any color scheme would look cute with this Earth Day craft.
Cut out two pieces to create one complete band to wrap around the top of your pot. Attach them together below the pot with some tape, and then use the leaves to hook the two pieces together at the top of the pot. We even used the saucer of our pot as a cute cover for our Earth Day craft! Stick your seed packet inside the pot, wrap the band around the top, and then use a piece of twine to attach the gift tag. Your seed packet set is ready for gifting!
