In our studio, we are always looking to our northern friends for design inspiration and this is especially true during the winter holidays. We love the look of a Scandinavian Christmas, which is why we’ve created many Scandinavian-inspired DIY projects for the season, like these pretty papercut holiday gift tags, this paper star window decoration, and one of our favorites, our paper house ornaments. Today we’re sharing a new idea—our paper pine needle Scandi star décor.
Festive Northern Stars
I love the simplicity of Scandinavian design. Mixing geometric and modern designs with elements from nature makes our Scandi star décor something that you can display all winter long. The natural tones of the kraft chipboard and the sage green paper pine stems also invite these little treasures into any color palette and décor theme.
For this project, we used the new Cricut Maker specifically to cut the chipboard star base. We then switched blades to cut the pine needles. Next, we used a hot glue gun to glue the paper greens to the base shape. The leftover diamond shapes can be glued to a cardstock star for an additional decoration.
These Scandi stars are so easy to assemble. Just watch the video below to see for yourself! Once you’re done making them, you can add a pretty ribbon to hang your northern stars to your window, door, or wall. How would you decorate your home with them?
