Video Workshop: Crepe Paper Hawthorn
Tiny Blooms, Big Mood
While some blooms may be small, they can still carry a quiet kind of magic, and hawthorn is the perfect example. The hawthorn flower has a natural, organic elegance due to its tiny blossoms, lush leaves, and flowing stems. It begs to be replicated, and that’s just what we’ve done with this Crepe Paper Hawthorn project. And the best part? As you recreate this stunning addition to your crepe paper flower collection, we'll be right here with another video tutorial. So, gather your tools and materials and follow along as we create something truly special.

Though it may seem advanced, this Crepe Paper Hawthorn is considered an intermediate-level project. However, we welcome all skill levels to give this craft a try! In this video workshop, I'll guide you through each step with care, showing you how to shape the soft, papery blooms and layer them into natural-looking branches. You’ll be working with extra fine crepe paper, floral wire, and just a few basic tools to bring these botanical beauties to life. So, take your time, enjoy the process, and watch your branch bloom and take beautiful shape right before your eyes.
Perhaps not as well-known as some other spring flowers, hawthorn still has deep roots in folklore and floral symbolism. For instance, they represent hope, protection, and fresh beginnings, making them regular visitors in garlands and wedding crowns. And while their real-life counterparts bloom briefly, you can enjoy this gorgeous crepe paper version all year long.
What makes this project extra special to me is how natural the branches look when assembled. For example, the irregular curves, layered blossoms, and soft coloring make each stem feel organic, just like nature intended. The finished branches have an airy, natural flow that feels like they were just snipped from the garden. Use a few stems to add softness to a larger bouquet—or let them stand on their own in a simple vase for a minimalist, wildflower vibe.
When finished, be sure to share your Crepe Paper Hawthorn branches using #MadeWithLia. Upload them to social media or in our crafters’ community — either way, we’re so excited to celebrate you!

Do you know that hawthorn is wonderful to avoid trouble with your heart? Dried blossoms, leaves, buds too (mixed or each one solo) makes a perfect tea.
The ripe berries in late summer, early autumn, mixed with apples – fruit or juice (cooked, smashed, passed through) make a delicious jam. 1/3 hawthorn + 2/3 apples.
I just LOVE medicinal teas. Thank you for this recipe. Now I need to find a live Hawthorn tree. 🙂
Another question. Do you no longer include a video along with the monthly collection. I sure enjoyed those with Emily and Lia!
Awwww. Thanks, Karen. We will be filming that in a few days. These last few weeks have been a bit crazy so we are behind. 🙂
Yipppee, thanks. Happy Mother’s Day soon!
To you, too!
Can’t find the video for this, maybe it hasn’t happened yet?
We will have it up shortly! 🙂
