Become a MemberI am super excited as today is the day that I am finally able to reveal our kid’s camping theme bedroom project. Creating a childrenβs bedroom design that wonβt grow old in less than a year can be tricky. Our teammate Anna wanted to update her sonβs room in a theme that suited him and his adventurous nature now and for the next 5 years! The idea of creating a camping themed bedroom seemed ideal and we had a blast picking out the most perfect furniture from hayneedle.com and complimenting those pieces with a range of our own, fun DIY projects.
We began by choosing our color palette. Wanting to think outside the box we chose a strong palette of navy blue, fire truck red and soft grey with a sprinkling of forest green and woody brown for good measure. A great room design has as much to do with texture as color and so we incorporated items made from wood, galvanized metal and faux fur to make the room work.
We picked out the Maxwell metal desk, the Newbridge wire baskets, the Logan lanterns, the Adrian desk lamp, and Classic Playtime metal stools as our forever pieces – perfect for little Lukas to enjoy for years to come. We then softened the metal pieces by including the cozy bed sheets, a selection of bought and homemade pillows, the soft canvas teepee and the brown flokati shag rug. We added pattern with those bright red arrow DIY tab back curtains using fabric from our local fabric store and covered the closet doors with wood grain wall paper (our own design which we will share later!).
For me, a well designed room includes lots of little details that come together to perfectly compliment one another. Our handmade felt camping signs (bunting, EXPLORE banner, Great Outdoors wall hanging and Camp Adventures flag) are the perfect felt additions to our room. And our alphabet poster and vinyl decals add that little touch of handmade that every rooms needs to make it your own. Of course a few DIY felt projects are a must for our team so we made an adorable moose head, felt campfire, and fishing rod game for those soft details. When you are designing your own room, think about balancing textures, colors and prints in the same way.
The gorgeous bed we chose is the Nantucket Breeze Twin over Twin Bunk Bed in a charming dark blue color – perfect for sleepovers. We made ours cozy and inviting with the Lamont Coverlet Set, a mix of throw pillows and our fab wood grain duvet, making this the perfect space for your little camper to read, relax and drift off to sleep and dream of his or her next adventure. For more pictures of the room please pop on over to my guest post on hayneedle.com Enjoy! ~ Lia

Hi Lia! Room goals! Can you tell me where you got or how you made the little campground symbol sign? Thanks so much
It is a cute one! All of the project links are in the post, but I think you are referring to this one? https://liagriffith.com/kids-bedroom-camping-signs/
Awesome room! Do you remember where the antler lantern hanger came from?
Thank you! We actually picked that up at an antique store here in Portland a few years ago.
Love this π so cute!!
Where did the red lantern come from?
Hi Kylie! Thanks, we love this room too! The red lanterns are Stansport Kerosene Lanterns but, they didn’t have any Kerosene in them of course! There were a few of the lanterns that were battery operated too, but those were found at miscellaneous stores in the area!
Such a great kids space! Any chance you could share the source for the red stools underneath the chest?
Thank you! The stools were part of a set (the table ended up being too big to fit in the room!), it’s sold out now but you might be able to find it somewhere else: https://www.hayneedle.com/product/classicplaytimesquaremetaltablewithoptionalstoolsred.cfm?styleboardID=1691
This is such a darling room! Just purchased your ABC poster – which frame did you use to hang it? Also, where are the adorable fishing rods from? Thank you!
Thank you Sam! We used an Ikea frame (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60298291/#), and we made the fishing rods: https://liagriffith.com/toy-fishing-rods-for-kids-game/.
This is so cute. I love it.
Been wanting to make the felt camp fire for years!

Love this room so very much! If you don’t mind sharing, what is the wall paint brand and color? Thank you!
Thank you! It’s Sherwin Williams Fashionable Gray (SW6275) π
Can you tell my where you found the bedding & the name of the red arrow fabric for the curtains?
Hi! The red sheets are from Ikea. The duvet cover is my Spoonflower fabric (https://liagriffith.com/how-to-sew-a-duvet-cover-video/), and the red arrow fabric was from my local shop but I found it online here π
Could you give a color source for the beds? Thanks!
The beds are Dark Blue: http://www.hayneedle.com/product/nantucket-breeze-twin-over-twin-bunk-bed-dark-blue.cfm?styleboardID=1691 π
Have you considered doing the ABC print in other background colors??? Grey, pink, mintβ¦for example?
Those sounds like pretty colors, unfortunately we cannot take any custom orders since we have buy a minimum print quantity.
Ok, I saw this post after seeing the felt campfire post. I have to say, this room theme is AMAZING!!! There is a lot of great stuff here I can’t get over all the detail. Fantastic job on this room makeover! Can’t wait to show my son this room.

LOVE this room Lia! The Camping ABC’s is so creative and cute…the felt pinecones, well I just adore every detail! I hope I have a son one day and can create something like this!
Thank you so much. I kind of want to move in, but too old to sleep in a bunkbed:-)
I’m having trouble pinning the giveaway image (pinterest won’t receive it) – am I the only one? Just checking! π
Try pinning anyone of the images from the post and then copy and paste the url from the pinned image into the Rafflecopter.
Super cute room! Can you give any source info on the wood pencil holder and the bark vase on the desk and the name or brand of the arrow fabric? Thanks!
The bark vase was from Michaels a few seasons ago and the pencil holder is just a wooden vase. I can’t remember the source. The fabric for the curtains is from Premier Prints in Timberwolf Red. They sell it online here: http://www.fabricdepot.com/home-decor/premier-prints-arrow-cotton-timberwolf-red
