VIDEO: Crepe Paper Holiday Magnolia
Merry Magnolias
I love picking a different flower each year to focus on for the holidays. This year it’s the magnolia — a fresh change from the traditional poinsettia that is often used for Christmas. This crepe paper holiday magnolia is going to be one of the decorations on our 2020 Christmas tree, which we will do a tree reveal post on Friday after Thanksgiving.
To help you make this flower, we have created a video tutorial for you that breaks down each step and shares tons of crafting tips.

Even though magnolias are not a traditional Christmas flower, I think that large, white magnolias are a perfect pick. Especially when you add the gold crepe flower centers, gold leaves, berries, and a touch of gold to the tips of each petal. You can use this crepe paper holiday magnolia to create a holiday wreath or garland, to decorate your Christmas tree, or as gift toppers.

My flower seems so large. I am using the SVG on my circuit. I noticed that the PFD petals look a lot smaller. I must be doing something. Any suggestions ?
Yes, the Design Space does enlarge the templates sometimes, not all the time, which is frustrating. You can match the PDF in size. 😉
Oh, and if I made the magnolia at half scale, what would its the approximate diameter be? Dimensions of finished flowers is something that would be helpful to add to your information for those of us who want to use them in our own compositions. Just a suggestion.
Hi Lia. This wreath is beautiful. I want to make a small version of Meagan’s dried citrus wreath (using clementines and kumquats on a 5” hoop), adding one flower to it and a couple of small berry bundles. Can the magnolia SVG file be adjusted to half scale on the Cricuit and do you think it would work at that size? Thank you for your advice and inspiration always!
Hi Kathryn~ yes, any SVG file can be scaled up or down to your liking! The finished bloom is about 6″ wide. I haven’t made this magnolia at half size so I can’t say for certain, but the petals would be very small at half size (according to Design Space, the smallest petal would be .5″x1.5″). I hope that’s helpful 🙂
how can I get magnolia template?

flowers for years and yours are delightful.
Im pleased to discover your “shop” because I’ve enjoyed making paper flowers for years and yours are delightful.
Thank you so much!
can you use heavy crepe paper in gold?
And also what else can you use if you don’t have cotton spun balls?
You can use anything small and round– a wood bead, a felt ball, or even just crumpling up a piece of paper into a ball.
Yeah that would be fine!
