Crepe Stellar Ruby Magnolia Member Make Workshop
Crepe Stellar Ruby Magnolia Member Make Workshop
Magnolia Magic
There’s something especially magical about crafting flowers in the heart of winter — when colors fade, insects fall silent, and darker days draw us indoors. For this month’s Member Make, we wanted to create something richly hued and dramatic, a piece that honors the solemn beauty that settles in after the Winter Solstice. This Crepe Stellar Ruby Magnolia is a striking celebration of winter creativity and a gentle reminder that the world will soon bloom once again

We’re excited to invite you to our Live Member Make Workshop on Friday, January 16, at noon PT, where you’ll learn how to create this stunning Crepe Stellar Ruby Magnolia step by step. As always, Member Make workshops are designed to be relaxing, welcoming, and inspiring — giving you the chance to craft alongside our community while learning new techniques in real-time.
Undoubtedly, this Crepe Stellar Ruby Magnolia is a true showstopper, featuring layered petals, thoughtful shaping, and rich color for a bold yet refined look. While the finished flower appears intricate, there’s no need to worry—we’ll guide you through each step of the process. Along the way, you’ll learn how to shape crepe paper, build dimension, and achieve a lifelike form, all while growing your confidence and refining your skills.
Whether you plan to display your finished magnolia on its own, incorporate it into a winter floral arrangement, or save it as a statement piece for future décor, this project is one you’ll return to again and again. It’s a wonderful opportunity to stretch your skills, connect with fellow makers, and enjoy a shared creative moment during the stillest part of the year.
When your Crepe Stellar Ruby Magnolia is complete, we’d love to see how it blooms in your hands. So, be sure to share your amazing work with the hashtag #MemberMake, and don’t forget to upload photos to our crafters’ community. We can't wait to celebrate this season of creativity with you — see you soon!

Leave a CommentI love how big they are! Nice job as always! Thank you for another design.
They are glorious! Meagan is such a good designer. 🙂
Loved making my flowers live along with the member make for the first time! I used matte mod podge on my leaves, since that’s what was listed in the materials list. Now that they’ve dried you can’t tell which side I applied it to, it really looks as if I didn’t do anything to that side. Is that because I didn’t add enough? Or should I have used glossy mod podge instead?
Thanks!
Honestly, we found that the glossy and matte look very similar once dry. You can add another coat to make them have a thicker finish.
So happy you joined us!!
where did you get that great tray?
Here is the link. You might be able to find a similar with less quantity:https://amzn.to/3NzFoA2
thankyou
Should the pattern be enlarged
No, but be sure it is set on full size not “size to fit” when you print.
They are gorgeous – can’t wait to make. My 1st almost complete viewing (came in during supplies review) Member Make – finally!
Where did you get the cardboard (?) trays? I love using something that isn’t plastic.
Thanks for the great workshop.
Here is a link to the ones we are using: https://amzn.to/3NzFoA2
I’m sure this is a novice question but once I download the SVG files, is there an easier way to get them ready to cut on the cricut machine than deleting all the pieces on the blank canvas except the one I want and duplicating it for as many as I need. Also when I invert it to fit more on each piece of crepe paper, the machine doesn’t seem to accept the change and changes the file when I make it. Seems there must be an easier way than what I am spending so much time doing. Thanks.
Hi Mary, I have added a new SVG file which includes enough pieces for a whole branch. Make sure you attach each group so that everything stays in place to maximize your crepe paper when cutting.
I have some input to add to the comments about cutting this file. I’ve cut a page using the SVG file with my Silhouette Cameo and agree that there is a small issue with the upper right curve of all the petals, and that there are two sizes of the bud petal on the SVG. The smaller bud petal matches the PDF. On the upper right side of the petals, there are two nodes very close together that cause the rotary blade to try an extra corner at that spot. I cleaned mine up with point editing in my Silhouette Studio software for future cuts. I hope this information helps!
Thank you Kelly! We have corrected the file and it should work for everyone now 🙂
ae all the leaves cut with doble sided? I did laminate some extra fine copper and fern for some of the leaves. Not sure what gets cut with expresso, or is that just for wrapping stems? Thank you.
The leaves will be cut from double sided ferns & moss, and we will be using espresso to wrap the stems.
I am going to make my own two sided crepe paper. I have aubergine but no Sangria. Is there another colour I could use!
I would use Aubergine on both sides. That will be gorgeous!
Thanks
I did have some issues with the left edge of the larger petals but cleaned them up with scissors. Wasn’t worried as all nature has variations. Using Cricut. Looking forward to video and checking supplies in the meantime.
I like that solution! See you at Member Make!
I am having trouble finding the Member Make Bundle for the Crepe Stellar Ruby Magnolia. I click on the item under Materials but it just keeps coming back to the same page.
I have updated that link for you, so it should work now. 🙂
I don’t have the Tombow Markers, but are you using Alcoholic Markers or
Acrylic Markers? I have lots of Markers and do not intend buying any more.
Yes! Use what you have in a close color. No need to buy more. Alcohol or a water base is what you will want for this project. 🙂
Did anyone else have difficulty cutting these with the Cricut? My Cricut made weird little ‘thumbs” on the right side of the large buds (making them wider) and the small buds all had the thumbs and were overall larger than the template. I had to use the pdf template to cut down all the petals to size. Just wondering if it is my machine? …or maybe the software updates?
I have double checked the files and they are working for me! Try restarting your computer and redownloading the files.
Everything cut fine for me except the stamen. My Cricut mutilated them so I tossed them and will attempt to cut by hand. I always seem to have issues with my rotary blade on smaller cuts.
Oh dear. Try a scrap with a lighter cut.
What color for the tombrow brush marker? Thank you.

This looks absolutely beautiful! What color marker do we need? I have everything else, that’s the great thing about making so many projects lol.
We have added it to the post, Tombow brush marker in Royal Purple 676
Agree with Alexandra – just gorgeous!
Yay!!
There is no tutorial, is there meant to be a tutorial?
Did I miss it, or is it missing?
There is just the template and the .svg file
I can’t watch the video tutorials live, because living in Australia they are in the middle of the night or early hours of the morning.
Hi Sharon. The tutorials for the Member Make projects are added after the workshop filming. We make the replay for these available within an hour after filming, so you can watch it at your own preferred time.
Thank you so much for your reply.
I guessed it might be something like that but wasn’t sure :o)
I will look back after the event to watch & download the tutorial.
Wonderful!!
Wow! Looking forward to making this. Absolutely gorgeous, thank you!
Yay! Love to hear that. 🙂
Beautiful! When is the member make?
Friday, January 16 at noon PT
Beautiful flower!! Can’t .wait to make it. The materials list states Tombow brush marker but not which one is needed.
