Felt Toucan Wall Hanging
Felt has always been one of our go-to materials to craft with, and our resident Queen of Cute designer Krista (the genius behind most of our felt animal stuffies) has done it again with this fabulous DIY felt toucan wall art. It is wonderful for adding a little tropical touch to your seasonal decor, or it can be the start of creating a tropical themed nursery or special event. Make the toucan as a wall hanging like we did, or simply make the stuffie as a cute friend for your favorite little one!

Tips
Once you get to step 16, where you will be making the felt plumeria, follow our plumeria tutorial in this post. We sized the plumeria template down a bit to match the size of the other flowers on this wall hanging, but that part is up to you!

I’m confused about the wing. The instructions just say “Whip stitch the wing to the body, leaving the outer edge open for now”, then there is no further instruction. It looks in some of the photos like the wing might be folded in half, or stitched down the middle? Can you clarify how to attach it? Thank you!
Hi Stacey! Only part of the wing was whip stitched to the body. The outer edge of the wing (that matches the outer edge of the body pieces under it) is left unstitched until you blanket stitch the whole body together at Step #10. This is to prevent doubling up on stitches on that outer edge. It might be hard to see in the tutorial because of the black on black!
Hi Lia! I have a question about this pattern. I printed it out and there appears to be a difference between the attached pattern and the one shown in the photo tutorial. The shape just above the foot shape is different and it is making it hard for me to complete the project. Can you help me?
Hi Ashley,
Are you referring to the full beak shape that is to be cut out in the darker pink?
I wish to download your toucan.
Please do! If you’re not a member, join us today: https://liagriffith.com/membership/
A friend linked this to me saying she got it free. Is she mistaken? I can’t find a link to download free. All I get is sign up for $10 month or $99 a year, neither of which I can afford. Your felties are adorable.
Hi Cynthia! Unfortunately this is not one of our freebies. There’s no contract with our monthly memberships, so you can always sign up for a 1 month membership and cancel at anytime!
I love this so much and want to try making it, Do you think it could also be done as a banner? I would love to make this with my daughters name below it on a banner.
YES that would be adorable!
Awesome job on this. Love DIY stuff.
Thanks!
is there somewhere online that I can buy the felt? I just don’t have time to get to a store and I know my neighborhood craft store only has basic colors
We love Benzie’s felt. You can find a link here https://liagriffith.com/source-list/

Do you have a favorite glue gun? It’s time for an upgrade and I can’t choose between the millions of options!
