Whip it Up!
There is nothing more luxurious than homemade bath and body products that are fresh, natural and organic. This grapefruit and lavender body butter is delicious. I had a hard time not wanting to scoop it right into my mouth… though I’m sure it feels and smells better than it actually tastes! I’ve included the full tutorial and recipe below. It is a base of two butters and two oils which make for a smooth and silky cream when melted, chilled and whipped together. It is on that last step of whipping that you will add your essential oils for the final fragrance. I love citrus mixed with lavender for a soothing yet energetic finish. Feel free to choose your favorite essential oils according to your personal preference. Once finished, label your body butter with our set of pretty Printable Labels. Head over this way for more natural beauty recipes!
A note about essential oils: Some cold-pressed essential oils, especially citrus oils, can be phototoxic when applied to skin that is exposed to sunlight. Phototoxic effects may include redness, blistering and a rash.

Isn’t it OK to put a little bit of vitamin e oil
It works as preserving agents?
Yes! I love adding E to my products.
I should make this for Christmas gifts.
It makes a lovely gift. 🙂
I’ll have to try this. Trying to make more of our own products to continue eliminate toxins.
It is one of my favorites.
I’m having trouble finding just the whipped body butter labels. I’ve wasted 3 of my projects trying and all i keep getting is the spa kit labels. can you help please
Hi Patricia! We can re-credit you for those projects. The linked labels go to the spa kit labels post, which include the labels we used here for the whipped body butter. If you look through that PDF download, you will see a label at the bottom of the PDF that says body butter.
Hi again! I just emailed you the label that is in the photo. Let me know if that is what you were looking for.
I can’t wait to try this recipe (tonight)!
FYI – Body Butter also works great as a shaving lotion in the shower. Close close shave on the legs and came out silky smooth and super moist.
Hope you enjoy it!
You cannot replace shea butter with cocoa butter and get the same consistency. Cocoa butter has a much higher melt point and butter will be much harder and does not spread or melt on the skin the same way.
Can I add cocoa butter cream in place of Shea butter?
I can’t say for sure since I haven’t tried it that way. I prefer the texture and scent of shea butter personally. Let us know if you try with cocoa butter cream!
I was so looking forward to trying this, bt it doesn’t sound right to me. A cup & a half of olive oil sounds like way too much & would make the butter too oily. If everything is a cup & a half, could you let me know.
Thanks so much!
No it’s just 1/2 cup each! The recipe card format is a bit odd, it numbers each ingredient but it’s “#1, 1/2 cup”
Hi,
Haven’t tried this recipe yet but am looking to make a body butter soon with some herb infused almond oil. However I just wanted to mention you should be sure to inform people that sun exposure after applying grapefruit EO to the skin can result in sunburns. The scent is wonderful however the safety of EO should always be taken into consideration.
Great point Larissa, thanks for letting us know.
If y’all are noticing the body butter is kind of greasy or oily try adding in a teaspoon of arrowroot powder. Mix it in and check it again for oiliness, if still oily then continue to add a teaspoon and check till you get the consistency you desire. Just make sure you check after adding each teaspoon and mixing. Arrowroot powder will help absorb some of the oiliness and its good for your skin too! Just remember you want your body butter to be somewhat oily to help moisturize your skin.
Good to know, thanks for the tip!
Hi sounds amazing when is sets is it hard or is it soft and easy to apply? Thank you
It should be nice and buttery soft!
These are lovely thank you – will make some for gifts this year as a pampering idea!
One of our favorite kind of gifts!
Can I use another oil instead of olive oil like grape seed oil or avocado oil or even sunflower oil?
We haven’t tried this with any other oil so can’t say for sure how it would turn out. If you experiment, let us know how it goes!
Hi, can I add rose water? Or replace an ingrédient
Hi Cindy! We haven’t tried adding rose water so I can’t say for sure if it will make a difference in this recipe. If you try it, let us know how it turns out!
I’m a “mature” woman and have NEVER found a body or face moisturizer that doesn’t cause me to have migraines. FTI, I have fought daily migraines since my early 20’s. I am intrigued by your recipe —- it SEEMS to be organic with, obviously nothing artificial, added. Please comment? I don’t want to invest in your recipes and find that they cause more/worse migraines!
Hi Barbara,
This moisturizer can be completely organic as long as the ingredients for the moisturizer are all organic!
Can the olive oil be left out?
Hi Angelique,
We have not tried leaving the olive oil out completely, you could possibly replace it with avocado oil or more coconut oil though!

Thanks for sharing your beauty ideas with us. For how many months we can preserve it.
I try to use up my beauty products in 3-4 weeks!
Can u replace cocoa butter with kokum butter
I’ve never used kokum butter so I can’t say for sure. If you try it, let us know!
Hi. I’m thinking to make this however, when I used cocoa butter in other body butter I have made the body butter instantly goes hard once I put in the jar. Do you know what I am doing wrong.
I can’t really say what’s going wrong, but just be sure you’re using a raw, cold-pressed cocoa butter – free of chemicals that are used in bleaching and refining.
HI, I for some reason thought it was extra virgin olive oil when i went to buy all the ingredients… would that even make a difference? I found mine to be slightly greasier than I was expecting. Thanks for the recipe. I am excited to give these as gifts.
Yes that should work! Body butters tend to be a bit more oily because of their content so I let it soak in my skin a bit before getting dressed.

I was worried it’d be too oily so I ended up lowering the amount of oil – instead of 1/2 cup olive oil I used 1/8 cup almond and a 1/8 cup avacado. I was shocked that just a 1/4 cup difference my batch made significantly less. I only got about 300 ml out of the batch, which is less than what I put in – how is that possible? Any suggestions? I had heard that when whipping the amount expands/increases so I didn’t think it would make much of a difference. I came out with 2 x 4 oz jars and 2 x 30 ml tins.
How bizarre! I don’t know what went wrong for you there. I usually stick with olive oil so perhaps it’s the almond and avocado oils??
Wonderful recipe. Mine smells more like olive oil then any of the fragrance I added and seems to be quite oily when rubbed into my hands. Anyone else experience this?
I haven’t heard that feedback yet, but it could just depend on the type of olive oil you’re using (I’ve noticed certain brands are a lot stronger than others). You could definitely add more essential oil to see if that helps!
Thank you for sharing! How long does the body butter last for? How many Weck jars were you able to fill? Can’t wait to gives these out for xmas 🙂
The body butter should stay good as long as the ingredient with the shortest shelf life– but to be safe, we suggest using homemade bath & beauty products within 4-6 weeks. I filled three small weck jars 🙂
Would there be any way to add aloe vera to this?
You could try added it after you’ve whipped the recipe as is, but it might change the consistency. We LOVE this recipe with aloe vera though! https://liagriffith.com/homemade-lotion/

Thanks so much, I’m happy you love them 🙂
Good idea. I found your blog on Pinterest, so I came to give it a look. The body butter is so expensive in the market. Thanks for saving my money & for an organic body butter, which is not harmful.
Glad you found us:-)
Lia,
What size jars do you use?
I used the 741, 744 and 762: https://websecure.cnchost.com/weckjars.com/productsDetail.php?category=7

I made this recipe a while ago and it was great as body butter but I have found it to be a fantastic cream for my curly hair! It makes my curls soft and bouncy and doesn’t weigh them down or make them overly sticky like when I just use oil! I am so glad I experimented because this is turned out to be best combo for my curly hair!
So thank you for a great multi-tasking recipe!
That’s awesome to hear! I’ll have to share that with a the curly haired people in the office 🙂
Lia, Would I be able to use beeswax instead of coco butter?
Thanks
I wouldn’t make that substitution here. Beeswax is a great ingredient for lip balm, salves, candles– anything that hardens and/or needs structure. This body butter is meant to be soft and, well, buttery 🙂
Hi Lia, I just found this awesome recipe on pinterest. I have a question, for how long does it preserve itself? ☺
I use mine often enough that it’s gone in a few weeks, but I would think it should last a couple months in an air tight container.
I just made this tonight, and it’s seriously amazing! No heavy greasy feel, just velvety smooth skin! I used lavender and peppermint EO. Do you think this would turn out the same with avocado butter instead of shea? I wanted to try but I figured I should stick to the recipe for the first try. I was afraid that I messed up the recipe because I started to whip the mixture before it was firm enough. But I just put it back in the fridge for about another half hour or so and it whipped up beautifully. Thank you so much for this recipe!
I’m so glad you like it 🙂 I haven’t tried avocado butter– let me know if you do give it a whirl!

I made this with avocado oil and the rest of the ingredients. I used cedar wood, patchouli, and lavender oil because I have eczema prone skin. This recipe is PERFECT ! Will for sure make again and again! My skin is so soft and healthy. Thanks for a great recipe!
I’m so happy to hear that! Your scent combinations sound amazing.
Ur welcome! But i am curious have you used coco powder in any of ur butters? I made a chocolate mint butter and use coco powder…my concern is u can actually see the coco powdered when applied to the skin. It almost turns ur skin brown, did i do this wrong?
Thank u
Hi Nicole! No, I haven’t used cocoa powder in anything other than cookies 🙂
Made this for x mas gifts! came out lovely! I noticed with unrefined butters the smell no matter what comes through which is ok because its a natural smell. The only esssential oils i got to actually come through and smell wonderfully without too much cocoa and shea butter smell was lavender and peppermint. I tried grapefruit and even added in some zest but cocoa and shea still came through more stronger, i did orange and you can smell the orange but not much, and from there i noticed lavender was just a more prominent smell no matter what. But the texture is so nice and i love it soaks right into your skin. I also mixed up it up by using just shea and coconut oil for some but i did notice texture differences. Cocoa does make the butter more stable, dense almost but creamy. Shea butter only with coconut oil makes more of a whip, real light air and fluffy. Both are wonderful butters.
The first time i tried this i did notice that mines came out a bit grainy and i kept doing research on it. I left the canned finished product at home near the window at my house where the sun can come in and warm it up. What i found was what may feel grainy after mixture can be fixed by allowing the butter to warm up- i dont know why but later when i applied to my skin it felt creamy without grainy feeling. I allowed most of my butter to sit for 24 hours and when i later came back to them i was alot more happier with the results. The mixture of all the different essential oils can really mess with your sense of smell and taking a break can really help.
Thank you for sharing this, I’m sure other readers will appreciate hearing your methods! I’m so glad you love the way they turned out 🙂
Hello, I was wondering where you purchase your jars because their very cute?
They’re Weck jars, I love them! I’ve found them at West Elm and Sur La Table locally, but they’re also available online: http://www.weckjars.com/products.php

Hello
I’ve only just joined the world of homemade body butter – could I ask why you didn’t use beeswax? I’d also like the measurements in grams if possible, because cups confuse me 🙂 – for example how do you measure solid things in cups when it doesn’t fill the cup? And the measuring cups that are sold means 1/2 cup is a huge amount
I use beeswax in some products but prefer to leave it out of my body butter, as it just feels softer and less greasy without it. I bet you could find an online calculator to convert cups to grams or ounces 🙂
I tried this and my ingredients didn’t firm up. Waaaah. I used 1/2 cup of each over a double broiler, put it in the fridge and it didn’t solidify. Not sure what happened.
Oh no! How long was it in the fridge?
Hi Lia, where do you buy your cocoa butter and shea butter? And do you use refined or unrefined?
Thanks!!
Hi Melissa! There are links in the post to Amazon where I purchase these items (unrefined!) Have fun 🙂
Hi Lia,
Is cacao butter ok to use instead of cocoa is there a difference?
Hi Lucy! I would use cocoa butter as it’s better for your skin. I believe cacao in most forms is only edible.
Hi, Lia!
I saw some of my previous students gather outside in the hallway. I approached them and noticed that they were working on their science fair project. These students have decided to create an organic body scrub and lotion. They were just talking about it, and writing notes. Today, I saw the same group of students gather again, this time, they had what they created over the weekend; a shea butter lotion. The lotion was hard and the aroma was not pleasant. I requested to see the recipe, but they did not have it available. I advised them to research and exactly follow the recipe and that I will be searching for great combination of fresh and calming aroma oils combinations. Any recommendations of a great recipe with energy and calming essence for scrub and lotion?
They will be thrilled, to hear what you have to say and excited to try your recipe. I am not their science teacher, but I have passion for motivating, the reason I wrote you this email.
Liz (Spanish teacher)
What a wonderful teacher you are! I have a few recipes on my site that I love: https://liagriffith.com/homemade-almond-and-floral-body-scrub/, https://liagriffith.com/homemade-lotion/. Geranium and lavender are wonderful scents, as well as lemongrass and bergamot.
Hello, could you write the weight of the individual ingredients. It’s better than a half cup. Everyone else has a different big cup. Thank you
Unfortunately I didn’t record the weights when I made this recipe, but I used a standard measuring cup! 🙂
[…] 4. Body Butter […]
Love this recipe! I used theobroma cocoa butter, and I added tangerine essential oil, but the smell of chocolate took over, which is totally fine with me!
Haha! Who doesn’t want to smell like chocolate?
Hi! I am unfortunately allergic to cocoa butter. I have looked for recipes for whipped body butter but to no avail. Do you have any solutions or suggestions? Thanks
Unfortunately I can’t think of a good alternative to the cocoa butter because this is the ingredient that gives the body butter its creamy texture. I am so sorry! I would say to check out our post for our new homemade lotion. It is so luxurious and doesn’t use any cocoa butter! https://liagriffith.com/homemade-lotion/
Can i use tins to package this up for small gift ideas?
If they are waterproof I think you can!
Hi Lia,
Does this need to be refrigerated or does it hold its shape at room temperature?
My experience is that it holds its shape at room temp. If you refrigerate it will harden.
I love this whipped body butter it melts right into my skin so luxurious!!!!! And it’s the perfect consistency ?
So happy to hear!! I love this recipe too.
Awesome body butter I made it today and I absolutely love it !!! Thank you so much?
So happy to hear!!
Hi everyone great reading comments. I made a great batch of butter which whipped beautifully…after sitting for several hours it still looks great but when I apply some it feels chalky on my skin…I have no idea where this would be coming from since it whipped up so well. I used coconut butter, almond oil vit e oil and some essential oils. Any thoughts? Has anyone ever used coconut butter and had this issue?
Interesting about the chalky. I have not had that issue yet and it may depend on what kind you use. I am sure they vary.
Hello can I use I part each because I want to make less thank u
I haven’t tried this, but you can try cutting the recipe in half, I assume that it will turn out just as well!
Hi, I’m going to attempt to make this body butter and wondering what will happen if I actually use some real grapefruit juice for scent. Do you think this would have an adverse effect our would be ok?
I would say to use grapefruit essential oil instead! The juice has sugar and I’m worried that it might make the body butter sticky or watery, and you would need a lot of juice to make the scent noticeable. Good luck! 🙂
And you would need a preservative..but it’s difficult to preserve things with fruit juice in it so more than likely you would have a body butter quickly taken over by bacteria and mold. Not good.
Yikes! Let’s make sure not to get any water into our batches!
Can I swap the olive oil for almond oil without it changing the consistency? 🙂
I haven’t tried this but I don’t see why you couldn’t! I think it would most likely work the same way 🙂
This was a beautiful tutorial, very easy to follow! Maybe it’s just my over sensitive nose but I agree with the other comments about the cocoa butter being an overwhelming smell. I put it a ton of extra essential oils and nothing would cover up the cocoa. It would be perfect if you went with the smell and did a cocoa + vanilla scent. But I did not find success in trying to cover the cocoa with an essential oil sadly! It does serve it’s purpose those, super fluffy and luxurious hand cream!
Cocoa butter can be an overwhelming scent unfortunately. Adding vanilla is a great idea though!
Help please. I got some water in my mixture when it was on the double boiler, can I still use this or is there a way to get the water out? I was making a double batch for gifts and would hate to waste it all 🙁
Oh no! I’m not sure what to do in this situation! I’m thinking that the water may separate from the oil naturally…good luck!!
Actually, when you introduce water into an oil based product, it will cause bacteria to grow. Without a preservative, you could discover mold in your butter next time you open the lid. Some bacteria has no color or odor, but it is there, just the same. Be very careful about wet fingertips dipping into a jar. You should use a little plastic disposable spoon, or spray your “scooper” with alcohol after each use (after washing with soapy water). This should help prevent growth in your product.
Good to know, thank you!!
I made this recipe tonight and I am happy with the consistency and how it whipped together but I’m very unhappy with the smell. The cocoa butter is very overwhelming even with my essential oils. All I can smell is the cocoa butter I can’t smell my essential oils at all and I even used more drops then what the recipe called for. Any suggestions or have you ever left the cocoa butter out
The cocoa butter scent is certainly not for everybody! I would not suggest leaving it out because without it the body butter won’t whip to the same consistency, but I think you are on the right track with adding more essential oils. Maybe try even more next time? Good luck! 🙂
Hey! I just wanted to give my two cents. You can switch out and butter with another butter. You could try adding more Shea butter in place of the Cocoa butter, or you could even try mango butter. Just thought I’d mention it. good luck!
You can definitely use Shea or Mango Butter or if you want to use Cocoa Butter but don’t like the chocolate scent then just buy Refined Cocoa Butter. The scent has been removed from it. I prefer to use a mixture of Mango and Shea in my body butters.
Sounds divine, thanks Michelle!
Hi, Can you tell me what font you use for your labels?
It has been so long I actually don’t remember;-)
I used raw cocoa butter and EVOO- I’m curious if that is why the mixture will not whip? It’s very runny. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
It may depend on the temperature of your room. Try putting it into the fridge for just a few minutes. It may be a trial and error experiment since the temperature will effect things.
HI Lia
I have tried your recipes and I left the mixture overnight but it didn’t firm at all and still liquid. I dont know whats wrong?
How hot is it? If it is above 70 degrees it will not firm up.
I was so excited about this. I left the mixture in the fridge longer than an hour because it wasn’t solid yet and when I tried to whip it, it was so hard my hand mixer overheated and stopped working! Now I’m stuck with this semi not whipped mess. So disappointed. I finally found time to do it and this happened. 🙁
You can try to melt it down again and just make sure you don’t leave it in the refrigerator too long:-)
I attempted again only this time after I let it sit in the fridge I let it soften in room temperature. It was so much more manageable and easier. I am so excited. I did find that I had to add a little more essential oil to get a scent that didn’t smell like the shea or cocoa butter. Next time I make it, they will be just right. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
So glad to hear about your success!!
I love the recipts to making body butter I have went body butter making crazy but I have to ask where do you fine your containers I love the one you have in your pic
I usually use a brand called Weck Jars, you can find them on Amazon. I use Weck Jars for almost everything.
Lia For Elizabeth May 2015 a CUP IS Appox 8ozs. So 1/2 Cup is 4 ozs so she can get 4 jars. That is if she is using IMPERIAL MEASUREMENTS – IF American ounces YOU only have 14ounces to the 1LB we have 16 ounces.
I hope this clears this up.
Thankyou for the recipes and the Labels
Thank you!
In America there are 8 oz. to the cup. Not quite sure where you got your info about us having 14 oz. to the pound. ? I’m 62 years old and, if I use your measurements, I’ve been wrong that entire time.?
Aha, glad I took time to read comments as they answered some questions I had. Really helps as you certainly can’t know what questions will be asked to supply all answers in tutorial and recipe. Now I won’t have to bother you with same questions others asked. You are so good about making things clear and answering our ?’s. I’ve been making notes on what size jars to get; about substituting other oils, things like that.
Will give this to my daughter as she likes to do spa days with her daughters. Wish they’d invite me. Maybe I’ll make a suggestion that since I got this for her I’d love to part of their spa day. They do lots of nail painting at their house.
Maybe will see about getting the jars at Hobby Lobby on sale. They often have cute little round jars 1/2 off and no shipping charges. There’s a Sprouts right next door so could get all/most of other supplies there, so handy. Will have to go online to see what Sprouts does carry of these supplies.
So happy you share these personal home made beauty product recipes. Haven’t ever used any but at almost 75 my skin could use some help. My skin tends to be quite dry and my facial skin is very sensitive.
Thanks for sharing great looking jar labels also. Can hardly wait to have a spa day. Oldest grand daughter will be going to college so better get on ball as they leave on Aug. 15th. to take her to college in San Rafael, CA. Boy would I ever love to go with them. She showed us photos of campus which is gorgeous. Haven’t been to CA in years. She already has job as campus host also.
Well better go read next recipe and get those labels. Thank you so much for helping us take better care of ourselves. I could spend all day just on your blog. Happy week
Happy week and Enjoy your spa day!
Hi there ! I love your photography ! oh ! @ your jars ! i have a question, i found a few receipes that say you need 75% SOLIDS & 25% LIQUIDS, in making butters. they didnt look as creamy though. your measurements are all the same & was wondering about that. Thanks !
Thank you so much!!!Photography is a fairly new hobby for me but one of my favorite one:-) I love my whipped body butter so I have tried experimenting with the recipe.
Thanks for the reply Lia, then which oil can I use to substitute coconut oil?
I have only tried it with coconut oil.
Quick question- Can I use clarified butter instead of coconut oil or will it clog pores?appreciate your help. Thanks for the recipe.
I don’t know, I haven’t tried it. I make gee all the time at home but I don’t think I would put it on my skin.
If I buy 1 lb of the butters, how many individual body butter jars can I make? I’m not really sure how much 1lb of Shea butter really is…
I wish I knew the answer but unfortunately I don’t know how to translate cups(volume) to pounds(weight) My recipe calls for 1/2 cup of Shea butter.
It’s about 16 oz if you go by what some of the vendors on Amazon say.
me encanta los productos naturales me da permiso para copiar alguna de sus recetas son para un regalo no es para venta ni nada parecido, tiene lindas cosas en su pagina

I wonder if adding a tiny bit of beeswax would make it less oily because right now it’s a little unpleasant.
It will make it stiffer. I find that a little goes a long way and I am a bit on the try side so my skin soaks it in and has a nice glow.
Thank you so much for posting this recipe! I just finished my very first batch, and it’s amazing!!!
Yay, that makes me really happy to hear!
I wanted to add some vitamin e. how can i incorporate it without messing it up.
Absolutely. I haven’t tried it but I would say oil for oil. However much you put in make sure you take the same amount out so it doesn’t become oily.
You can absolutely add vitamin E! In fact, adding vitamin E extends the shelf life of the body butter. You only need a few drops (for this recipe, I’d say 5 or fewer) to get the benefits.
Wonderful, thank you for sharing!!
Hi! Loving the looks of all your tutorials and body products recipes. Thank you for sharing them.
I’m about to embark on making them after shopping for ingredients, I only have a stand mixer though. Would this be ok to use for whipping the oils instead of a hand mixer?
I have never tried it but it seems like it would.
Hi Lia,
How do I store this lovely bodybutter? And for how long is it ‘fresh’ to use?
Best regards from Holland!
Hanneke
I find that room temp (under 70 degrees F or 21 F) is a good temp. If you refrigerate is becomes hard, which is alright if you prefer that. I like to use mine up in about 3 months time before I make a fresh batch.
Excellent. Homemade data, i will try. Thanks a bunch, February 2015.
Enjoy:)
Hello! Just was wondering how to incorporate argon oil into this ?
I would replace it with another liquid oil. Same measurement.
Hi, I made this because I was looking for a non greasy lotion to mage myself and I love it. However mine turned out really hard and not fluffy at all. What can I do?
Get your blender out and re-whip your batch. I think it just needs more air.
hello! I just made the body butter as holiday gifts for some friends. I got it all done & put into the jars but Unfortunately the next day it was hard as a rock! Not whipped consistency all. What went wrong?
You may have needed to whip it longer. Also, did you put extra of anything in the mix?
[…] – Whipped Body Butter, Coconut + Coffee Scrub, Lavender Eye […]
Thanks for sharing this. Its been most helpful! I’m new to this homemade beauty products thing. I wondered for this recipe can I exclude the cocoa butter?
You can give it a try. I know some don’t like the smell.
Hi,
I just finished putting the butter in my jars. It looks like frosting, just like your pictures. Rather than washing it off, I decided to rub the cream into my skin… it turned to total oil/grease… will it firm up and work like a normal body butter, or it this what happens when you use it? Is there something I can do for a less oily consistency when applied?
Thanks
Since this is all natural with no chemicals, the main ingredient is oil. That also means you use less of it so your skin will soak it in nicely. 🙂
Any chance this becomes watery in certain temps? Or does it stay mostly a typical body butter consistency?
It will melt when it gets too warm for sure. Since there are no chemicals that keep it stiff when warm.
Hello, I check your blogs. Your writing style is great, keepup the good work! Thank you very very much.
Thank you!
oh i forgot… sorry… can i use Organic Jojoba Oil instead of olive oil?
THANK YOU AGAIN!!
I suppose you can, but I haven’t tried. Each oil has its own healing properties so if you prefer Jojoba oil I would give it a try. Let me know:)
so when you say olive oil… do you mean EXVO or Virgin or Pure or Light? I’m very very confused with all different olive oil out there.
thank you
Hi Lulu! I agree it does get confusing:) I used extra virgin olive oil, but I am not sure it really matters.
Help help!!!! How do you clean your pots and supplies afterwards?? I can’t get the greasy residue off!!
I use a vegetable (vs. chemical) based soap like a Dr. Bronners or 7th Generation brand to wash my jars. I will then put them in the dishwasher.
Could you tell me how long I can expect the “shelf” life to be on homemade beauty products? I’d like to start experimenting for Christmas gifts, however, I’m worried about the oils and a shelf life with them potentially starting to smell funny or spoil!! I’ve been looking through your posts and I’m so excited to start!! Thank you so much!! Kris
Depends on how fresh your ingredients are, most of these things don’t go stale unless they are exposed to extreme heat. Hope that helps!
Where do you find those cute glass containers? I love them. 🙂
Me too, they are from Weck, I buy them at a local store but you can also find them at http://weckjars.com/
Thank’s a lot for your fantastic ideas, not only for paper flowers but also for the home made cosmetics. I’m a great fun from Greece.
I would only ask if it is possible to explain how many ml or grams do we need when you say 1/2 a cup of shea butter etc.. what is the correspondence of a cup of shea butter etc in grams or mls..
Thank you in advance..
