Forget your average cabbage from the grocery store! Ornamental cabbages are the flamboyant fashionistas of the garden, boasting vibrant rosettes in hues of pink, purple, red, and white, all nestled within ruffled skirts. Though measuring a foot wide and 15 inches tall, these edible beauties (with a slight caveat – they’re a tad bitter!) are best served as decorative delights, not dinner fare. Imagine them as the eye-catching accessory to your flower bed or a colorful garnish after a quick double-boil to temper the bitterness.
To achieve a lifelike quality for our crepe paper cabbages, we’ll be using colorful panpastels and colored pencils, transforming ordinary paper into miniature masterpieces. But, don’t be intimidated by the seemingly complex technique – our live workshop will unravel every step and trick you need to achieve similar results.
Once your paper cabbage blooms to life, its beauty will leave you in awe. Whether you perch it proudly on a sunlit windowsill or showcase it atop your mantle, this charming creation will infuse your home with the irresistible spirit of spring.
As always, we can’t wait to see your magnificent creations come to life! So, don’t forget to share your masterpiece with our vibrant crafting community or tag us on Instagram using #MemberMake. Get ready to unleash your boundless creativity and dive headfirst into spring with this delightful project!

Thank you Lia for your quick response. Where can I find “Hide the designers notes”?
I LOVE the ornamental cabbages and would really like to be able to use the Cricut to cut.
You can see the layers in the right column in Design Space. Just click the eye icon to hide that layer.
The video link I shared shows precisely where to look for that eye icon.
I tired to cut these on my Cricut, but it said the SVG file was too large. Odd as I use a 12 x 12 cutting Matt and everything else I have made has worked.
Can you help?
I just tested the SVG in the software. Be sure to hide the designer notes layer, which will remove the “too large” warning. This template is laid out for maximum use of the paper so you can attach each of the layers separately to keep them in place when you cut. Here is a video where I show how to do this. Let me know if you have any other issues. 🙂 https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/a-crafters-guide-to-the-cricut-maker/lessons/1-lia-griffith-files-for-the-cricut/
I did duh, and I can’t believe I didn’t try that. I consider myself pretty proficient on a computer but I’m slipping. I can’t tell you how much I’m enjoying this cabbage, I’ll send pics when I, finished. Thanks for your help.
Yay! Wonderful!!
I’m sorry, I just checked the comment below mine but I still can’t find it.
Can you refresh the page and try again. They are there. 🙂
I can’t seem to find the directions for the Cabbage Flower, I thought they were in the downloads. I only find the template. I have had a lot on my mind lately and I may be asking a silly question. Can you help me please?
Can you refresh the page and try again? I know sometimes things get stuck in the “cookies”, whatever that means. lol
Loved how these looked and how they turned out.
Wonderful to hear! Share photos on the community page!
Hello,
Is there only a video for this one? I downloaded the zip file and in it were just and SVG and a PDF version of the templates but no photo tutorial or PDF directions.
Check now, we just updated it.
Thank you!
Hi Lia,
I still can’t find the picture tutorial, only the templates.
It is up now!
Thank You for the update.
I am still enjoying my amaryllis from Christmas. Have you made these?
Yes! We have quite a few versions but this is our newest. https://liagriffith.com/potted-crepe-paper-amaryllis/
Of course you can make it in any color. I would love to make another one in pink with some PanPastel gradation. Hmmmm. So many ideas.
Please send the link for the Member Make February video
It is right here in this post. If you are watching LIVE next month you can see it on the homepage or the collection page. We do try to make it very easy to find.
I like how you styled the cabbage with the maidenhair fern and eucalyptus. Which pattern is the eucalyptus? Looks like it’s made of paper (not crepe).
It is actually this eucalyptus in the crate behind, https://liagriffith.com/video-crepe-paper-silver-dollar-eucalyptus/
And the button fern along side with the maidenhair fern.
why am I not seeing directions?
They will be posted after the live event on Friday.
Oh dear. Since my question asked below is still being moderated (?), I have a bad feeling about the answer. Only reason I am a member is for monthly member make and if I am unable to print the patterns on a regular printer, there is no reason for membership which make me sad. Sure would like to hear from y’all.
Hi Rosemary! I just double checked the file again and made sure the PDF is there. So we do zip everything into one folder now, which might be confusing. Inside the folder you will find the PDF template that you can print and it is in both a color and BW option for you to choose. Let me know if that works for you. We DEFINITELY want to bring you only joy! 🙂
Thank heavens! Thank YOU! See you Friday afternoon.
Rosemary
Yay! See you then!
I do not have a Circuit, etc. Would it be possible to send the information so I can print and then cut out.
Thank you.
Yes! In the download there is the PDF template that you can use to hand cut all your pieces.
Hi Lia I’m from Australia, I absolutely love making your crepe flowers, but find it very hard to purchase your crepe paper in Australia. There are other crepe paper but not the quality of yours. To purchase from your shop, the delivery is very very expensive. Just wondering if you know of anyone that sells a variety of your crepe paper in Australia, that I can purchase. Amazon, Ebay, and catch of the day, sell some, but no variety. I have purchased packs, but as you know some colours are more popular than others and require purchasing more often. Hoping you can sort my dilemma, as I really enjoy making you flowers, Regards Carolyne McKenna.
We are the only ones who supply the single colors at this time. I would love to have a supplier in other countries, and envision that for the future. The options right now would be this place in NZ: https://krafterscart.co.nz/brand/lia-griffith/
This company sells some of the double-sided: https://www.craftonline.com.au/search?type=product&q=Lia+Griffith
Beautiful!!! I download the template but the Tutorial picture is not there?
The tutorial will be added after our Live class on the 16th. Come join us!
Not seeing the picture tutorial. Today is the 17th. Thank you.
It is there! Meagan posts it after the live, and sometimes she even grabs her lunch first. 😉
No, it’s not there. I have closed out and re-entered the website with no luck. Only the cut file and template are there; no tutorial.
Cheers,
Jules
Our mistake! It is there for you now. Sorry about that. 🙂
