Crepe Paper English Rose Video Workshop
A Rose-y View
The English Rose has captivated hearts and gardens for centuries. Now, with our Crepe Paper English Rose project, you can create its timeless beauty for yourself. While this bold, lush bloom may look intricate, it's perfect for beginners! With our step-by-step video workshop, you'll learn how to shape each petal and assemble a flower so lifelike that you'll be tempted to check for thorns.

This project is part of our gorgeous collection of crepe paper blooms and an absolute delight for anyone who loves crafting with this material. If you've already tried our Crepe Paper Two-Tone Poinsettia or other floral projects, then you know how rewarding it is to transform simple materials into something remarkable. Well, this Crepe Paper English Rose is no exception! Whether you stick to the soft pastels we've chosen or select hues that match your style, the result is the same: perfection.
Though we've featured many varieties of roses over the years here at Lia Griffith, this is our first attempt at the English Rose. Known for its timeless charm and beauty, the English Rose has been celebrated in gardens, art, and poetry for centuries. So for this project, we wanted to capture that same romantic essence, offering a modern twist on a classic bloom.
Additionally, what makes this project truly stand out is its ease and versatility. The techniques you’ll learn in our video workshop — like shaping petals and creating seamless stems with floral tape — are simple yet so impactful. Further, the heavy crepe paper adds a lifelike texture, making these roses a true showstopper.
Once the last petal is in place, these Crepe Paper English Roses will make for a truly breathtaking display. These would look gorgeous arranged in a vase for a cheerful pop of color or as the centerpiece for a special event. However you choose to style them, we can't wait to see it. So upload your pictures into our crafters community or on Instagram with the hashtag #MadeWithLia.

Leave a CommentI am also having issues downloading the template. I’ve tried two different browsers and also my phone with the same result – when I click the free download link I am taken to the same page in a new tab. I’ve checked settings and I’m able to download other files from the website, no problem. Thank you!
Check now. I had the dev team on this to sort out any issues for you.
I am also having an issue with downloading the template. It just opens a new tab with the same site. I’ve checked my downloads and it’s not there. It’s such a beautiful flower, I’d love a chance to make it!
Be sure you do not have downloads blocked in your browser. I just double-triple-checked the file and it does drop into my computer downloads folder.
That’s weird because I’ve downloaded some of the other downloads you have. I literally just downloaded the cherry blossom no problem.
I noticed that when it opens in a new tab the bar first reads /liagriffithmedia/downloads etc etc, but then it redirects to the regular page. IDK if that means anything.
Thanks for having free downloads at all, they all look really lovely!
Were you able to get this file?
Hello Ash. Give it another try. The Dev team looked it over and think they found a fix for you.
Hi Lia. Beautiful gorgeous rose! Somehow when I click on the downloads for the pattern, it doesn’t download, instead leads me to a new browser, where the same instruction page is repeated. Is there an error? If so, could you fix it?
Kind regards,
Elsie
When you click the download button, it will automatically place the folder in your computer’s download folder. Double-check there, and if you are not seeing it, let me know.
Hi Lia, since Ash was having the same problem, I tried again, and the link indeed said downloads, though the result still led to the same instruction page. I don’t know if other people had this problem, but it would be widely appreciated if you seach to see what is happening.
Hi Elsie, did you check if the zipped folder is in your computer’s downloads folder? Could you please clarify what you mean by “instructions page”? I am trying to duplicate what you are seeing, as this project seems to download properly for me. We always follow up is there are issues and work to correct them, so I am so happy you are helping us with this.
It should be working now. Give it another try.
OMG thank you soo much Lia1
You are SO welcome! 🙂
Thanks for always responding! One more question, when you say to mix them up in the bouquet, what roses or flowers do you recommend out of all the free templates on this website? Will this wild rose work well?: https://liagriffith.com/video-tutorial-heavy-crepe-wild-rose-starter-pattern/
Or maybe some other flowers?
I love using the wild rose with the larger roses. Yes!
You suggest cutting this one by hand. What is the best way to transfer the pattern to the crepe paper. Should I print the pdf file on card stock and then cut out the shapes.
Hi Kathleen! The way that I like to cut by hand is to layer the crepe paper. You can cut at least 4 petals at a time, depending on your scissors. Loosely cut the template, then use small clips to hold it in place.
Thank you. This is my first flower!
Fabulous! This is a good one to start your paper flower journey. 🙂
Hi Do I have to buy cricut maker to make or cut shapes flowers? Or is it precut flowers?
No, you do not need a Cricut. We have templates for you to hand-cut, which works really well for most flowers.
Thanks!
Also, I am hoping to make this in wisteria.
do you have that color or can you recommend a vender of heavy crepe paper that carries that color.
Thanks
Do you mean a light purple color of heavy crepe?
Yes
Yes, we carry that color. If you go to the project, you can see in the right column that there is a list for materials and tools, and they are all links to where to purchase. The wisteria is best made from the extra-fine crepe paper since it is so delicate and small. Enjoy! We have a full video for that one, too. 🙂
I am actually wanting to make this English rose in a light purple color. I assume I would need the heavy crepe paper for that, and if so, do you have it in heavy.
We do not have the light purple in heavy, but you could make a double-sided version of the crepe and use that for this flower. It would be gorgeous. You have inspired me to try that version myself. 🙂
Is there a file with a Cricut cutting pattern for this one?
Yes. Everything is zipped into one folder. We include the SVG for all projects unless it is one that does not need a cutting machine. 🙂
How big is the largest rose
It is 5-6 inches wide.
Hello, where do I find the pattern for the English paper Rose.
Thankyou 🌸
Hi Julie! If you are logged in, you can now find all downloads in the right column, above the tools and materials lists. I hope you like this new update. We wanted to make these easier for everyone to find.
As with all your flowers, this one is amazing! If making it in a peach crepe paper would you still use the same colour of pan pastel, if not, could you suggest an appropriate colour?
You and your lovely team once again make something that looks really complicated in to something beautiful in both looks and simplicity,
Thank you for all your hard work
I am so happy to hear that you like this one, Helen. Yes! This would be gorgeous in so many colors. I would use the yellow PanPastel with the peach, but you could also go in the other direction with a bit of bright pink. But I do think I would like the yellow best. 🙂
Thanks for that, I’ve made a pink one and a peach without the pastels just to practice and my next one will have the PanPastel. I love the way they both turned out slightly different but still absolutely gorgeous. Will also have a go at making some smaller ones with less petals. 🙏
Yes! Variety is always good. 🙂
I really love the changes to your website! Easier to get around and the craft circle is so awesome. Thank you
Yay!! You are all a special group! More fun perks are coming your way. 🙂
Can you tell me what are the other two flowers ?
We did this as a craft summit last year along with the garden rose and the wild rose.
I figured it out!! I was able to download it. I didn’t see that the first time.
Oh good!
I saved this to Pinterest because that’s the only place it would let me save it. Now I cannot get to the template? Is there another way to get the template? Thank you
There is a download button in the right column under the video. You can once you click that, it will add it to your downloads folder on your computer.
Hi Lia, just so you know, the instructions say to cut 16 medium petals for the large flowers, which is what you did in the video. I used my Cricut, however, and the SVG only includes 8 medium petals per flower. I was very confused here for a bit when I suddenly ran out of petals! (And I used up all my heavy blush so I can’t make more! Sad!)
Oh no! That is so strange, as I looked at the file and think that there was a “lost in translation” setting up the SVG. I promise that your rose will still look gorgeous. And, you can also make more from other colors of crepe. This would be so pretty is the creams and white crepe too.
So simple but so beautiful!
Agree. A great beginner flower with stunning results. (Though I know you are not a beginner).
Meghan is a beast when it comes to fringing!😂👍
Right!! Young, nimble fingers. lol
Excited for a beginner again!
Yay! This is one of my favorites.
Gorgeous!! I can’t wait!!! 😍
Share photos when you are done, Nancy!
Definitely will!
So beautiful..
Can’t wait to start making them..
Thanks Lia ,Megan and team
Happy New Year to all of you..
Enjoy! This one is simple to make and soooo lovely. 🙂
