Become a MemberThis fall I did a living room refresh, taking away the teal and yellow summer look to bring in a mix of navy, gold, grey and wood. Last fall I designed the room in the plum palette, and though I loved that look as well it was time to try a new mix. This next week my family will be coming for Thanksgiving weekend (as in 21 people) and my house will be the center of activities. It will be snug and a good reason to make sure everything is cozy and ready.
You may remember my post on styling my mantel for fall. I designed this in a neutral and gold palette, knowing I was going to be adding the blue rug. I think the biggest visual change in the room is the colorful rug. I found this gorgeous navy quatrefoil wool rugrel at Wayfair.com a few months ago and decided to use this as my starting point adding in the golds and natural materials. The other smaller furniture changes were to support my idea of adding more modern into my mix, as I love having the unexpected. This mid-century style grey chair was another Wayfair find as well as the gold metal end table. Both pieces are compact and a perfect fit for the space. Once the furniture was in place, it was time to mix up what I already had and add in a few new accessories. Take a tour with the photo below and I will share all of my sources for this gorgeous navy blue and gold look.
Here is a list of sources for all of the items in my living room:

What color is your rug? Navy and white or navy and gold.
It is navy and white.
Please share wall colour code and name
It was painted when I moved in, but I found a color really close to it by Sherwin Williams called Oyster Bar!
Where did you get the sofa
I picked it up at a local furniture shop in NW Portland years ago!
This room is just incredible! I love how you mixed all the different colors. What is your wall color and brand?
Thanks so much! It was painted when I moved in, but I found a color really close to it by Sherwin Williams called Oyster Bar.
Absolutely beautiful space! Would you be willing to share where the curtains are from? Thanks
Thank you! I made the curtains đŸ™‚
Love this gorgeous room! Where did you buy your rug from?
Thank you! The direct link is in the post– I bought it from Wayfair đŸ™‚
Beautiful room! So cozy! Where did you get your sofa?
I bought my sofa on Craigslist but it was from a shop here in Portland. Here is a link to the sofa: http://www.perchfurniture.com/our-products/rachel-sofa/

Thanks Sandie! It’s actually subway tile, a nice soft gray color.
What colors are the curtains… it’s hard to zoom in and see… black or navy for the design… and then the background, white or off-white?
They are actually a charcoal-y dark gray color! And the background is a cream, off-white color đŸ™‚
Love your living room. Looks beautiful with the navy and gold. What size is your rug? Is it 8’x10′?
Thank you! It is 8×10 đŸ™‚
HI LIA JUST LOVE THE ROOM – HOW DID U TIED UR DINNING ROOM TO THE NEW LIVING ROOM TO GIVE IT THAT FLOW ?
I always try to keep the main pieces in the rooms neutral so that they can flow together, no matter what accent colors I use đŸ™‚
Hello,
Nice Place. Where did you get the curtains?
I made them:-) If I remember correctly I got the fabric from Fabric Depot.
What is the wall color that was used here?
i love this! Can you tell me what size rug you have?
It is 6×8′
I stumbled upon your post on Pinterest. Your room is gorgeous! I have some navy accents in my living room, but am struggling with a neutral wall color. Do you remember the name/brand of paint you used on your walls?
It is one of my posts – maybe in the bedroom one.
Your home is beautiful- just full of inspiration!
Thank you that is so sweet. I do love my home:)
Really, Really Nice!
Thank you, I am really pleased with how it turned out:)
Love your room and your style. Can you tell me where you got your window drapes?
Thank you so much! I made the window drapes myself;-) I got the fabric at a local fabric store.
Beautiful Lia, could you give us some information or a tutorial on the art work above the fireplace please? Thanks
Thanks! It was a pretty simple project. I started with a raw canvas then added very watered down grey paint in the stripes. Once that was dry, I put a row of gold foil onto the canvas with decopage. I made it up as I went and it has a imperfect hand painted look, which made it really easy to do. Hope this helps.
You have a lovely home. Filled with comfort and sweet elements of whimsy and beautiful style. Hugs!
Thanks Katherine!
It looks lovely Lia, so are your other rooms
Thank you June!
So warm and inviting….just gorgeous!
Thanks!
Which size gold terrarium do you have? Thank you!
I have the smaller one, but I want one of each. I just love them!
So, so beautiful.
It must be so peaceful sitting on that comfy couch.

It is a cozy room. My dog’s favorite time of day is when I sit on the sofa and he snuggles under the blanket with me.
your place looks lovely lia. I especially like the
way you arranged the tables with the lamps on them in front of each window.
Thank you Stephie! I have kept them that way through all of the changes, so I really like them too. đŸ˜‰

It is a Sherwin Williams paint called Oyster Bar.
Really beautiful and cozy!!
I do enjoy it! đŸ˜‰
I love your ceilings Lia! This is a stunning room….thanks for sharing!
Yes, the ceilings! I feel so lucky to have them.
I love your room! Navy with gold has always been a favorite combination of mine, I think it always looks fresh, clean and bright. It’s beautiful! Love all of your accessories, the vignette on your ottoman is lovely.
Thanks Judy! I was nervous to move from my neutral grey rug to this blue but am so happy I did. I absolutely love it. My Christmas decor will fit right into this look.
Love it! Your living room looks very inviting and comfortable. That’s how I want my home to look……….a place where friends want to come, sit and relax.
Thanks Cindy! Hope this inspires you and gives you some good ideas.
Oh my, I just LOVE your room, all the detailing is fabulous!
Thanks!
21 family members for Thanksgiving – that’s a lot but they will sure love the attention to detail on the great decoration remodeling. Everything seem to match perfectly. A great sense of style and modern art (but feels and looks homie).
Nicely done Lia. Enjoy Thanksgiving!
I know, right! That is when I think I need a bigger house, but we will make it work. Good thing we like each other. đŸ˜‰
