It’s always so fun to make felt animal ornaments for our Christmas tree. Last year Krista made these beautiful embroidered felt bird ornaments, so this year I wanted to keep it really simple. These felt dove ornaments are so easy to make — all it takes is some simple cutting and gluing to complete this project!
Just gather the tools and materials listed below. Then download the pattern and watch our video tutorial to craft your own felt dove ornaments.
Such a dovely tree
With our felt dove ornaments and gold accents, this tree is really so lovely. If you need more ideas for your tree, you could also make our gold foiled ornaments or our painted wooden ball ornaments. We also have these pretty papercut gold ornaments.
When you are ready to craft your felt dove ornaments, just follow the video below. We’ve included an SVG file at the end of the post if you want to use your Cricut Maker, but the pattern is very simple to cut out with detail scissors. Using our cotton spun balls also makes this craft project very easy — and more sustainable, too!
We will be sharing the tutorial for our paper garland this week, so stay tuned for more Christmas decorating fun! If you are looking for a tree topper, you may also want to check out our felt dove tree topper. Happy crafting! ~ Lia and team

Caan I use 15mm balls instead of 14 mm? I can’t find any 14 mm balls.
Yes, we do sell the 15mm in our shop. I have updated the listing.
These ornaments are so CUTE! I used to make felt ornaments with my mother years (decades, really) ago, hand-stitched with sequins and beads. Alas, they were stolen along with our entire box of vintage ornaments during a move. But I have one little bird that managed to escape. I’m so happy to have found this blog. It’s difficult to find projects that aren’t “quick and easy” and that actually take a little time to execute but that can stand the test of time. I look forward to sharing the ones that I make on my own blog, with full attribution, of course.
Thank you for what for me will be the beginning of a fun journey through your site!
Regards,
Shea McNaughton
