Make it a Crafternoon!
Since this is for beginners, it is a perfect workshop to invite friends for a crafternoon. Our March Crafternoon Bundle includes beautiful printable art and invitations featuring a cherry blossom design to set the mood for your crafting gathering. You can download these and add a personal touch with simple watercolors. Get the extra downloads here.
Symbolism of Cherry Blossoms
Cherry blossoms are more than just pretty flowers; they represent the fleeting beauty of life, the promise of renewal, and the strength of a community. Just like women who support women, cherry blossoms thrive in clusters, creating a breathtaking display of unity.
This month, as we honor the achievements and contributions of women throughout history, we invite you to craft these blossoms as a symbol of your own strength and the strength of the women around you.
Bonus Challenge!
Share the Bloom! Our challenge to you this month is to create your crepe paper cherry blossom branch and attach the included "Like cherry blossoms, we bloom together" tag. Then, gift it to a woman you admire, who inspires you, or someone who needs a little encouragement. It's a small gesture that can make a big impact.
Show Your Creations. Once you've completed your Crepe Paper Cherry Blossom Branches, we encourage you to share your creations on our community page. Tell us who you gifted your branch to and why you picked her.
As always, share your photos on Instagram using #MadeWithLia, and let's spread the joy!

Hello! Do you have a link for a source to those cute, little clips? Thank you.
Yes! https://amzn.to/41R7paY
Thanks so much!
You are welcome!
I can’t connect to live event. It says private.
Yes, we had our internet go down today which threw everything off. Good news though. . . we went ahead and filmed it and will be uploading the prefilm version for you to watch here in a little bit. So sorry for the confusion on this. We were so excited for this event.
Hi Lia has this been video tutorial been cancelled? I saw that there were some technical difficulties. I was on then poof gone…there is no video link from your site to the live YouTube…
Yes, we sent out a note to everyone that our internet went down. So. . . we went ahead and filmed it and will have it uploaded for you to watch before the end of the work day. 🙂
how many flowers is the SVG for and should I cut a certain amount of the pedals? I’m having 3 of us doing this together and would like to make several blossoms on each of the three branches. Thank you
I LOVE that your friends are joining you. I am estimating about 10 flowers and 10 buds per branch for the two we will be making on the LIVE today. Our branches are only about 20 inches tall. You can estimate how large your branches are or even cut them down to something similar. The nice thing is, you can always cut and add more! Yay, see you in the class today. 🙂
Thanks- will watch Sunday with my friends
Wonderful! We were so bummed that we lost the live workshop, so I am happy you will still make use of it! 🙂
Are these attached to regular sticks that we should find prior to the session? Thanks!
Yes, they are! We have a materials list over in the right column.
Hi,
Whaty date is this workshop? The front page has 2 different dates; March 7 and March 8.
Whoops! It is March 7. Women’s Day is March 8 so we got a little mixed up. 🙂
When clicking on the template for the free download you are redirected back to the video workshop page for Beginner Cherry Blossom – no template..
The template automatically goes into your download folder on your computer. You will find the zipped folder there and you can open it by double clicking. I am making a video to show how this works. 🙂
I don’t seem to receive a download (on my tablet). It’s not in my downloads folder?
Try it now and let me know if it works. We made some adjustments to the coding.
thank you it is working now
Great!
I’d like to pre cut my flowers. How much are we stretching the heavy crepe before cutting?
I stretch mine quite a bit, almost fully.
When I clicked “Get the extra downloads here” I got a 404 error message and when I clicked on the templates it said I had to be a member. I am logged in but I don’t have an active membership.
Oh no! I will get that fixed!! Thanks for pointing it out.
good morning
is there an SVG for the cherry blossom pattern please?
Good morning! This is one of our first paper flowers so we did not provide SVGs at that time. I would need to go back and recreate the template. But in the meantime, here is one of our favorite blooming branches. https://liagriffith.com/crepe-paper-quince-branch/
And here is another option: https://liagriffith.com/crepe-paper-blooming-branch/
Hello from Brazil! I´d like to get the SVG file of these cherry blossom s. Is it available anywhere?
Hi! We don’t have an SVG for this older project, but we do for these newer ones! https://liagriffith.com/crepe-paper-blooming-branch/, https://liagriffith.com/paper-plum-blossom-wreath/, https://liagriffith.com/paper-orange-blossom/
Any chance of getting an SVG file for the Cherry Blossoms to use with the Cricut Maker? Ever since having a Cricut (for several years now), I’ve gotten lazy about hand cutting anything LOL I also love how easily the Maker cuts crepe paper.
Oh we understand! This post is a bit older but we do have SVG files for this newer blooming branch: https://liagriffith.com/crepe-paper-blooming-branch/
Oh Lia – I know this a completely dumb question, but what are the crepe paper colors? I don’t see them anywhere! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful creations!
Not a dumb question! This is a much older project and I used crepe paper from my personal stash (so not totally sure what the color names are). But I would remake this today with colors from the Extra Fine Secret Garden pack! https://shop.liagriffith.com/collections/extra-fine/products/10-pack-extra-fine-crepe-paper-secret-garden
I love these and will use them at my niece’s wedding in May, but I would like to know, how did you secure the branch in the pot?
Thanks for the beautiful idea!
Rocks would work for holding it down, and then you could cover it with moss. Gluing it to foam is also a good option! It all just depends on what will work best with getting it into your specific pot. Good luck!
My daughter just recently got engaged. Her fiancé proposed in Brooklyn Botanical Gardens under the cherry trees, which were in full bloom. I’d love to make her a “lasting” memory of that moment & may try to make some of these cherry blossoms & attach the branch to a picture frame with a picture of the moment he proposed. Have you ever made these cherry blossoms out of tissue paper instead of crepe paper? I saw your tutorial on Michael’s for tissue peonies – they were beautiful. I also bought a Cricut from Michaels that was supposed to come with some templates of your work but have yet to get my Cricut Air to calibrate (working on browsers & programs with Cricut tech. support – they are working hard). Anyway, I look forward to gleaning some of your expertise to learn how to make many beautiful projects for my daughters wedding. Thanks for sharing your talents!
Hi Sue! Yes, these blooms look amazing in tissue paper. I did a simple version of that a few years ago and they were also lovely.
I am happy to hear that Cricut is helping you work out the bugs. They are good people. Share photos of your projects when you are done. Here is a link to the tissue version: https://liagriffith.com/diy-paper-flower-blooming-branches/
Thank you for the link! Any chance you will come up with a .svg version of this so I can use it right on my Cricut & not have to do it all by hand? Your work is amazing! I am having so much fun clicking through all your great wedding ideas on your blog! I will definitely share photos of any projects my daughter lets me contribute to the wedding! 😉 Thanks again!
Unfortunately you can not cut crepe paper on a Cricut or any other personal cutting machine.
Can’t wait to see your photos!
I have been making paper followers like crazy for the last month. I have never made them before. I love your website and have gotten a lot of free printables. This has been very helpful as I am a senior and I have physical handicaps. your

By the way your link to Carte Fini isn’t working at the moment, fyi. 🙂
Thanks for letting me know, I have updated the link.
We were just in DC for spring break, during cherry blossom time. I think I need to make this to bring the cherry blossoms back into my home. 🙂
I love the cherry blossom season!!
Hi! This is a totally adorable idea! But I’m having slight difficulty on making the blossoms and leaves more round.
btw this idea is wonderful <3
Just need a little practice, and make sure you don’t stretch out the edges too much.
Obsessed. Great idea!
🙂
C’est magnifique, vous créer des choses vraiment très belles. Un grand bravo.

You are so talented! Love everything and can’t wait to make these cherry blossoms! Keep sharing! God Bless!
Thank you so much:)
Can you cut these out with a cricut explore?
No… unfortunately because the crepe paper isn’t completely even it ends up ripping when using a cutting machine.
This is lovely and a welcome reminder of spring! All your work is lovely and your website is inspirational. Thank you for sharing.
