Crepe Bowl of Beauty Peony Video Workshop
No secrets here
Not all peonies keep their secrets tucked away so tightly. The “Bowl of Beauty” opens wide, revealing a soft, feathery center that feels almost like a bloom within a bloom. Our Crepe Paper Bowl of Beauty Peony video workshop captures that same inviting charm, recreating its open, layered form with our signature crepe paper.

Because of the intricate center and layered construction, we’ve included a full video workshop to support you through each step. Our Crepe Paper Bowl of Beauty Peony builds gradually, starting with the dense, textured center before expanding outward into larger petals. Each stage adds volume and dimension, creating that signature “bowl” effect that gives this variety its name.
Surprisingly, this is the second Bowl of Beauty Peony in this month’s collection. While our felt version is soft and sculptural, perfect for beginners, this crepe paper interpretation offers more of a challenge. Additionally, the shift in materials brings a lighter, more lifelike quality to your petals. For instance, crepe paper allows for subtle variation, delicate edges, and a natural softness that mirrors the way real peonies open and move.
Traditionally, peonies symbolize prosperity, romance, and honor. The Bowl of Beauty, with its open form and striking contrast between center and petals, adds a sense of abundance and generosity to that symbolism, a flower that feels both showy and inviting.
As you make your way through the workshop, you’ll move carefully from one layer to the next, using a mix of tools and techniques to build depth. This is a project that asks for patience, but rewards you with a bloom that feels luxurious and a strong sense of accomplishment.
When you're all finished, style your finished Crepe Paper Bowl of Beauty Peony as a statement stem, or pair it with greenery and complementary blooms for a fuller arrangement. And when your peony is ready to display, share it with us in the crafters’ community and on social using #MadeWithLia.

I still don’t find the stamens?
This is one of the original flowers we made before making our own stamen. There is now a link to where to purchase the premade stamen.
I wish when talking about petals, leaves etc., you do not indicate how many of each that you need to have for each flower. I am just starting to learn and am using svg files and I need more direction. I have bought two of your book. Thank you so much for your help.
Sincerely, Carol Moore
.
Hi Carol! In many of our projects, you can find more detailed information, including quantities, on the PDF templates.
I wil! be making the above peonies with my Cricut Maker. The SVG file downloads with 9 larger petals and 12 smaller. The PDF template advises cutting 10 larger and 30 smaller. I am confused. Which should I go with?!
Hi Jean! Follow the quantities on the PDF template. The SVG was originally set up to accommodate the cutting mat + crepe paper size (not with the exact petal count) but we will update that soon to be more user-friendly!
the template doesnt seem to be showing up for me. i’ve downloaded it multiple times and it shows just a blank website page.
Hi Tina! Did you check your Downloads folder? Certain browsers will open a window but the download ends up on the desktop or downloads folder. If you want to email a screenshot of what you’re seeing to hello@liagriffith.com, we will try to help you more!
Where can I find a curling tool as shown above and the white scissors shown in your video on the history of crepe paper?
We just used a Cricut Scraper to curl. But stay tuned for our own curling tool coming out with our Fiskars line launching at JoAnn stores in the next few months! The white scissors are probably a Fiskars brand.
I don’t see the template for the gold stamen. What length and height should I cut out.
I would also like to know where you purchase your test weight, frosted paper. I have not been able to find the colors I’m looking for.
Thank you.
Thanks for the heads up! The stamen has been added to the template. We love paper-papers.com for text weight frosted paper! Anything by Stardream or Curious Metallic is lovely.
