This lush, tropical flower brings all the rich colors of the sunset into your home, creating the perfect island retreat.

Hi, Biscus! It’s Nice to Meet You
Techniques such as wiring petals, creating small, detailed fringes, and adding color details make this a fun but challenging project — great for more advanced crafters. A double layer of gently curling crepe paper petals gives this delicate flower its natural look. Drawing from a palette of deep pinks, yellows, and greens, the end result is a dramatic stem worthy of any arrangement.
Along with paper craft techniques, you’ll learn how to use paint, PanPastel, and blending methods to add realistic details to your crepe paper double hibiscus. Once finished, add your blooms to any surface that could use a little brightening. Or pop one behind your ear!
However you choose to show them off — make sure to share them with us! Post your photos on our crafter’s community page or on Instagram with the hashtag #MemberMake.
Crafting tips: We love the look of these flowers as a potted plant with lots of leaves and buds. It also makes a great focal flower in a tropical bouquet.
Other projects shown (in bouquet): Crepe paper mokara orchid, frosted paper pincushion protea, and lily grass from our filler greenery.

I found the template! Thank you
Oh wonderful!!
I am having trouble downloading the templet for the hibiscus pdf file . I keep getting the template for the cutting machine.
Let me take a look again. I see it in the sidebar there.
This is a beautiful flower and I love the colors but it appears all the flowers I’ve already made are of this shade. I’m considering using the cherry for the petals. Any recommendations on colors for the pollen, stamen and pan pastel? Would the leaves, sepal and stems stay the same color?
Thank you guys for your wonderful videos. A huge plus for me.
Cherry would be very pretty for this flower. Depending on what look you are going for, you could use a PanPastel that is darker like burgundy for a deep rich look, or you could use a bright yellow or orange to make the centers pop. You could use the same color for the center tips, but the fringe would match the petals. As for the leaves and sepals, yes, the same color. Share photos! 🙂
Hello! I am hoping to make this soon. Would you be able to estimate how many actual flowers can be made from the bundle package? I am planning to do several “bouquets” for an event but not sure how much to order. Thank you.
You can make 6 in the camellia, but if you switch with honeysuckle you can make another 6. The combo would be gorgeous!
What is the small 5 petal flower in the photo above? I want to make the arrangement.
Other projects shown (in bouquet): Crepe paper mokara orchid, frosted paper pincushion protea, and lily grass from our filler greenery. The links are in the text. 🙂
I opened the double hibiscus pattern but when I try to open it to print it won’t print.
what am i doing wrong.
This pattern is printing for us. Check you printer settings or try restarting your device.
Hello,
Is there a way to have the petals and or leaves end up correctly oriented on the cricut mats before cutting? It seems like I spend so much time turning them and making them fit. I just want to get the making part… lol. Thanks in advance for any advice😊
There is a way you can select that grouping and attach them so they will stay in the arrangement that is on the Canvas. Check out our Skill Course where we go over all of the steps to use our SVG files. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/a-crafters-guide-to-the-cricut-maker/
Hi! I am new to flower-making and just recently discovered the world of Cricut. I just invested in a Maker 3 (mostly so I could make flowers lol) I also just signed up for the membership so I could download the tutorials and SVGs for this gorgeous hibiscus! This is only my second crepe flower (my first was the Anemone) and I’m halfway through the first 3 flowers (I plan on making 6). I might not be at the advanced level, but I love how detailed the PDF handout is as well as the video tutorial. And, between the two I have complete confidence I can make these!
I LOVE to hear that! We do our best to do these projects for every level. Be sure to sign up for the next round of the crepe paper flower master class in September. I think you will really enjoy it. You’ll get the registration notification if you are on our mailing list.
Loved making this flower. The colors are gorgeous. What are the light green thin greenery in the arrangement? They go so well with this flower, I’d like to replicate it. Thanks for all your videos. I watch them constantly.
Yes! That is the lily grass from this workshop. It is a good one to have on hand. https://liagriffith.com/crepe-paper-greenery-workshop/
Absolutely beautiful flower–Big thank you to Megan and Lia. I’ll get photos up on the community site soon.
I had fun making two flowers and two buds, and a whole bunch of leaves. I have the leaves wired and shaped, but I have no idea what to do with them, as the member make video did not include assembly instructions. I have looked at last year’s member make and have looked at photos of hibiscuses on Google, and I have a few thoughts, but I was hoping you could direct me to a video and/or tutorial that walks me through some options. Thanks.
Look forward to seeing it! You can add the leaves to your bud stems or create a full thick stem of just leaves.
Lia,
Hello all. For some reason, and I am working using my iPhone, but I cannot download anything but the svg file. I do not see the template at all. Am I doing something wrong??
Vicki
Hi Vicki. There is now just one folder that includes all of the files inside. Just double click to open the folder to find the PDF and the photo tutorial.
Hi Lia: You gave me directions for opening a cricit maker svg file. I do not have a cricut and want to open a pdf file. I do not havae Winzip and do not intend to purchase the ap as it did not work for me before. Please setup this pattern in a pdf file. All my suppliesl are waiting.
Thanks, Chris
Yes. I gave you a video on how to open a Zip file, which happens to be an SVG. It applies to any type of zip.
Maybe a dumb question, but where is the SVG file? Im not seeing it in its usual place
Not a dumb question. We are now putting all the project files into one folder to download. 🙂
Have you resolved the issue with inability to access Winzip. I need the pattern in a PDF form as previously offered
Hi Chris. There is no problem. Once you download the folder, double-click to open it. There is no software needed. Here is a video that might help where I show how to download and unzip SVG files. This demonstration is at 22 seconds. https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/a-crafters-guide-to-the-cricut-maker/lessons/1-lia-griffith-files-for-the-cricut/
I tried to download the file which contains the templates but was unsuccessful. I was able to open the tutorial and the cut file but not the regular template page for the parts of the Hibiscus. Can you help me?
Hi Wendy. The download is in a zipped folder. Once you download it, double-click to unzip, and your files in be inside. Let me know if that works for you.
Finally after making my third flower did I figure out how to do the messy look in the center of these flowers. Love using pan pastel on these flowers. Using my left hand instead of my right gives me more control of how much color I use. Thanks for the tutorial.
Yay! So funny. I realized my left-hand works better to apply glue in a straight line. lol
petite question : faut il faire une branche uniquement feuille? Amj
You can. Meagan also suggested adding them to your bud stem. Both are good.
Thank you for this class. The flower is gorgeous and wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I fact, it turned out to be easy peasy.
You and Megan work so well together and I enjoy your conversations back and forth. Great teaching and that’s why this is my second membership year!!
I want to post in me,ber make but forgot how to get in. 😳
So happy to hear! I love that you posted here so I could read it and respond directly. 😉
I will have Emily give a better explanation next time so you can comment live too.
Maybe I should learn how the zip things work. Finally figured it out.
I just double click, and it pops open. 🙂
We are always looking for options to do translations. Yes, I wish the world was all on the metric. 😉
Looking forward to this one!
It was a fun one to make!
I just watched the class live. It was great. Will I be able to watch this class again? Also, is there a way to put the written instructions in the tutorial so I may download them and print them. They are always good to use for reference. When I downloaded the templates the instructions were not there.
Can’t wait to make these beautiful flowers!!
Wonderful! So happy you were there. We post the replay within 30 minutes and the printable photo tutorial with the written instructions right after the video. We keep it until after the video so folks will pause and work along with us. 😉
I cannot download the templates. I click on the download button and it takes me back to the signin page.
Now it says I’ve already said that on the comment page. I see no answer.
First, be sure you have logged into your membership. It sounds like you might not be signed in.
Would you please put the pdf pattern and instructions as a regular download as you have in the past. I have been having a difficult time with Win Zip and not able to access the pattern with that software.
I will let the team know your feedback so we can adjust and pivot. 🙂
I am trying to find the tintit spray an cant seem to find it, can you tell me where you purchased it?
Do you mean the fixative spray? We do not use the colored spray anymore. They stopped supplying it a few years ago, so use other options now.
Hello, I can’t wait to make this beautiful hibiscus. I would like to cut my pieces on my Cricut but don’t see the SVG file. Is it only available on the 19th?
We have bundled all of the templates into one zipped folder now. You can download that and find everything there. 🙂
Hi Lia, the cut file is empty, can this please be corrected?
Regards Michelle
It is all there. Give it another go and if you have issues you can review the lesson in our skill course. 🙂 https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/a-crafters-guide-to-the-cricut-maker/lessons/1-lia-griffith-files-for-the-cricut/
I also cut by hand and am not very computer savvy. I have the colored pages but no line drawings. So confused and really, really want to make this flower. Help please
Hi Sandy! I just checked the PDF and page 3 and 4 is the black and white version of the template. Hope this helps.
You might enjoy out Cricut class where I teach how to use our templates with the cutting machine. It has been getting great reviews! https://liagriffith.com/craft-academy/a-crafters-guide-to-the-cricut-maker/ We have a Silhouette version too.
I don’t see the replay video. Is it coming?
We haven’t done this workshop yet! It will be on the 19th of this month and we’ll post the replay once the workshop is over. Check the instructions for all the details!
Wow Lia, you are moving too fast for me but I am putting all the other things you have going on hold to make this beautiful flower. Thanks
You take your time just as you need. We will always be here to offer beautiful projects with the materials you want to work with. 🙂
Is this available as a PDF as I usually cut out everything by hand?
Yes, we are now putting everything into one zipped folder. The PDF is in the download.
Hello, these flowers are gorgeous and I cannot wait to make them. However, when I downloaded the tutorial/template file I have a problem. There is no tutorial that I can see, and the cut file is empty. The PDF template is intact.
Thank you for your help!
Cindy
Hi Cindy. The tutorial will be available along with the live video on the day of the member make.
So beautiful…can’t wait!
See you in a few weeks!
These Hibiscus are beautiful! I am looking forward to making them.
They are truly stunning. 😉
I can’t wait for this one! 💖
Me too! This version of the hibiscus is my favorite. 🙂
